UPDATE: This is last price drop. If it doesn't sell for 1700 I think I'd rather keep these as a backup pair/slightly different sound. I bought these for 4,000 and not really willing to take more of a hit than that.
UPDATE2: got a few inquiries about trades. Not interested in headphone trades -- I have enough of those at the moment. Only trades I would consider is a good quality balanced XLR cable for Audeze + cash. Something like a Moon Audio Silver Dragon + 1450. Not really interested in any cables valued over $250.
I haven't been active on here in a few years -- I found the acoustic profile I like and have just been enjoying the music without desire to upgrade. However, I have two nice pairs of electrostatic headphones, and can only really justify keeping one. So thus, I am selling my beloved Stax SR-009.
Bought these a few years ago, I believe from the forums here but I can't remember for sure. They have been great the whole time I owned them. They are working great and ready to go, but you might consider replacing the leather headband piece. All defects that I know about:
1.) There is a plastic piece that holds the leather headband on. This piece is very weak, and broke on both sides at varying points during my ownership. I fixed this both times. If I recall, this is an ABS piece, so I solvent welded the broken pieces back together with acetone. You can see the fix in the photos attached. Haven't had any issues since I fixed it, but if it bothers you, you can probably get replacement pieces, or 3D print a replacement?
2.) Corner of the leather headband suspension support (don't know the proper terminology) is just starting to come apart. You can see in one of the photos, about 1cm from the corner is just starting to pull apart.
3.) Couple very tiny dings/scratches in the aluminum finish. About the size of a pinhead -- I tried to capture as best I could in the photos.
This will come with the headphones and the wood case. Nothing more, nothing less.
Price is firm for now. I will drop the price by 50 every week until it sells.
Price includes shipping to the continental US, but does not include PP fees. If you're sending as a paypal goods payment, add a couple percent (or whatever the current fees are). I accept payment via either: cash, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, Bitcoin, Ethereum.
Shipping will be via either FedEx or USPS, depending on the price.
Local pickup is available -- I am located about 20mins. west of Boston, MA. Local pickup takes $100 off the price.
