I don’t think they try to upsell you accessories. I have F, L and G spare pads and experimented quite a bit, but essentially like them best with default pads for all models I tried. I can’t stand S pads for comfort though.

Overall I think that the default pads is just what they recommend.
Agreed 👍

At first I liked G pads on my Hemp as Zeos recommended. But longer I used G pads I started to loose Hemp magic.

Experimented with pad swapping on 325x, RS1x and GS3000x - all of them sounded off without stock pads.

Grados, in general, match very well with Violectric "two hundred" series h/p/a. [Own: HPA V200, HPA V281]
I second that. 325x sounded fantastic when I heard mine on Violectric V226. Probably one of the best Grado amplifiers I have heard if you like slam and punch and a wide open soundstage.

Yesterday at the headfi-meetingin Vienna oratory was so kind to measure some headphones. So I've got the possibility to compare my very early Grado RS1 (VS) with original pads and nyczaj (shipbos) pads. The differences were bigger than expected. I prefer the comfort and the smoother sound of the Nyczaj, but not everbody felt the same.
Remarkable is also the difference of left and right driver. Don't know, if it developed in the many years of use or if it's a question of quality control.
