Ah. I probably just wasn’t looking hard enough. Sorry.

FiiOxJadeAudio KA1/KA11 Compact Portable DAC and Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

Hmm. Was having a look at the Fiio website. The KA11 seems to have disappeared. It’s also gone from the UK Amazon website. Anyone else noticed this or am I just not seeing it?

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

If they’ve posted this on their website but are actually making them in China then this is potentially a serious violation of EU law.

Umm, these are made in France, at least according to the Focal website.

FiiOxJadeAudio KA1/KA11 Compact Portable DAC and Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

Mine was doing the same thing. It was also getting VERY hot, almost uncomfortable to touch. It would then make a pop noise and stop working. I suspect it was shutting itself down due to overheating. I reached out to Fiio customer service and they were initially quite receptive but after asking...

CanJam Singapore 2024 Impressions Thread (April 6-7, 2024)

I’ve been looking more closely at Apollo chassis from the photo you posted. I now believe it may be a Bang & Olufsen frame. I suppose we’ll find out in due course.

Alba is also the name for Scotland in Scottish Gaelic. Am I wrong, or is the Noble Apollo on a Bowers & Wilkins chassis? It looks a lot like a B&W PX7 SE or PX8.

No changes made to my unit. As I mentioned I have an iPhone 15 Pro so the Fiio app for iOS doesn’t work with the KA11. I’ll keep an eye on it for a few days then contact Fiio.

FiiOxJadeAudio KA1/KA11 Compact Portable DAC and Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

Ok. I’ve had my KA11 for about a month now, and in the last 2 days I’ve started to have issues. It has started becoming extremely hot, almost uncomfortable to touch, and it’s having connection issues. When it heats up and the slightest touch is applied to it there is a “click/pop” noise through...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Hello to all you founts of wisdom. I am looking for a solution to a dilemma. I purchased two sets of Azla ear tips for my AirPods Pro 2s, Crystals and Xelastecs, and I love them both. I think I prefer the Crystals as they seem a bit less sticky and more comfortable, but both eartips have an...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Just managed to snag a pair of Huawei Freebuds Pro 2 on eBay for £30. I’m surprised how similar they are to the APP2. Sound signature is very close, although the dynamic range is a bit larger, especially in the high end, probably due to the planar driver tuning. NC is very good quality wise, but...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I’ve been an Anker fan for some time now. Mainly their USB-C chargers, as I am a flight attendant and I really like their compact form factor. I have been using a pair of APP for the last 2 1/2 years but the batteries in the buds and case are done. I didn’t relish forking out £190+ for a new...

My car has corded CarPlay (Mercedes A200d) and it’s never really worked properly anyway. Android Auto however is wireless and it works great with my wife’s Samsung.

Dont quite get what you mean by passing data through uncompressed. If you mean ALAC it is compressed. Almost all codecs are compressed as otherwise the data files are generally very large. Only a few codecs, like WAV and AIFF are uncompressed.

    Your “wow” headphones

This sounds similar to the shop in Singapore I heard the Meze Empyreans in. It’s simply called Stereo and specialises in headphones. You can sit at the listening bar and listen to any of dozens of high-end headphones. stereo.com.sg.

    Your “wow” headphones

Had a chance to listen to a pair of Meze Empyreans at length in Singapore about 18 months ago. Almost life-changing when played through a Chord Hugo 2.

Because I can think. I was using logic. I was offering an opinion, not a fact, and my opinions are my own and no one else’s. I was also basing it on my own experience with my Bose 700’s which sound no different when connected to my Dragonfly red than they do when played via Bluetooth.

Understood about the higher bitrate via cable vs Bluetooth. What I don’t get is how you can double amp it if the cable converting the analogue signal into digital before sending it to the APM. How do you ampify a digital signal? I was also wondering if you could send a digital signal directly...

    AirPods Max

Not certain about the Belkin cable. Lightning is a data-only system and cannot transmit analogue signals (eg audio). The 3.5 to lightning cable must be taking the analogue signal from the source and converting it to digital via the adc then the APM are re-converting it to analogue. The resulting...

    AirPods Max

The only port on the APM is a lightning port. There is no 3.5mm jack on the headphones themselves. You can connect the headphones to a 3.5mm jack on your device via Apple’s lightning to 3.5mm cable (£25/$35). Belkin make one as well (currently £18 on Amazon UK).

Zorloo Ztella USB C DAC impressions thread

My Ztella works fine with my iPad as long as I use the setup I posted above. I ordered a new usb-c to lightning adapter from Zorloo (the new small model). The first one they sent didn’t work at all. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement which seems to work. The problem I have is that the...

I personally believe that while hi res codecs are important (most of my music is on my phone in alac format) it can’t compensate for a poorly engineered recording. I have 2 recent downloads from Apple that are in 256 aac and they sound fantastic. I also have several albums in dsd format stored...

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

Possibly there is some variation in the units produced. The MH40s I have are from NetJets, and are the headphones they give to customers onboard their private aircraft. I got them on eBay for £60 a about 18 months ago.

Your comments have prompted to me to pull my MH40s back out of the box to give them another try. My “new” first impressions are pretty much the same. Bass is good and tight, but the rest of the spectrum seems to be an afterthought. Mids are very muffled and vocals are so recessed that Ms...

I was really disappointed by the MH40s when I bought them. They have outstanding build quality but the sound, to me, is muffled and distant and the clarity is almost non-existent, especially in the mids. Vocals are terrible. My list however has a new number one. Got a pair of Sennheiser HD 560s...
