Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
TheAbyss2022, Thank you for the feedback. I am thinking that the dead silent D90 SE paired with a potentially noisier source, such as the HA-3A, will make a good combo. And as with the Empy IIs help balance some of the warmth I am expecting from the tubes. Let me know if this doesn't make...- Ultron 5

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
NJoyzAudio, You are right in what you assumed about my musical preferences; that is, they are wide and varied. I can go from Coltrane to Snarky Puppy in one day.- Ultron 5

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
Thank you NJoyzAudio and Betula. Your perspectives are very much appreciated. Tubes sound frustrating and rewarding, all at once. I have never heard an R2R DAC. In the reviews that I have read on them, it appears that they provide a "warmer," "lusher" sound. I get warmth from the RME ADI 2...- Ultron 5

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
NJoyzAudio, Thank you for the thoughtful response. "But I will caution, make sure your sources you use, from high quality audio files or proper bandwidth if streaming, to a good DAC, and also good input cables should be a first priority, over tube rolling. Your sound is only going to be as...- Ultron 5

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
Hi NJoyz, I know nothing about tube amps, except for various narratives I have heard concerning the way in which they elevate sound. I am very much interested in purchasing the HA-3A too. Why is it that everyone is so keen to "roll" the tubes? Thank you.- Ultron 5

Arctic Cables
Hello Head-Fiers, I recently received a new cable from Arctic Cables for my Sennheiser HD600. It is from their Define collection. This is not my first cable from Arctic; in fact, I have bought a few over the past few years. Each time that I have received a product from this company I have...- Ultron 5

Hi Redcarmoose. What's the wait time for this cable? How long have you owned one and how is it holding up thus far? For $99 USD this does not look like a bad deal. Exactly how did you stumble upon this manufacturer? Thank you.l- Ultron 5

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
Thank you, djentbat. I have never listened to a tube amp, but this model seems like a good entry point. Of course, I am little concerned about quality, etc., but there are so many positive reviews on head-fi, I am assuming where's there's smoke there's fire.- Ultron 5

Thank you for clarifying DrDen. Based on what you have shared and my research, it appears that this amp will power the LCD-5; ZMF Verite; LCD-XC (2021); HD6XX and; the Empyrean II. Does this ring true to you?- Ultron 5

Reading Graphs: Are Measurements Representative of Sonic Experience?
Hi Castleofargh, thank you for such a thoughtful, sincere response. ". . . listening is the way to decide how we like something." I could not agree more with this sentiment. Reading Graphs: Are Measurements Representative of Sonic Experience?
Earmonger, you're the best, thank you. If I am looking at the 20Hz region on the graph and one line is sloping downwards, let's say to 50dB and the other line is sloping upwards to let's say 65dB, is the 65dB line representing more bass? RVG, definitely the man!- Ultron 5

Reading Graphs: Are Measurements Representative of Sonic Experience?
I just finished watching a video on graphs that Resolve did a while back, which supports the idea that graphs should be taken with a grain of salt, especially if they are compensated graphs and the reader does not know what is used to create the compensation. The vertical axis of graphs range...- Ultron 5
