Hey y'all!

I'm doing some spring cleaning and need room for my upgrades, so I have decided to sell off some of my collection to make room.

Here I am presenting my Musician Pegasus in silver. What makes this special is that I have installed TWO Synergistic Research Purple fuses (110v requires 2)! For those of you who don't know, this fuse upgrade really DRAMATICALLY improves sound quality in this DAC, increasing the airiness and soundstage making this R2R DAC sound like DACs twice as expensive. Plus, it's built like a tank, so there's that.

This unit is in good condition, with just a couple of minor scratches or marks on it. I do have the original box. Everything works fine - it's the best DAC in the price range by far and beats every inexpensive Sigma Delta DAC I've heard under $5k.

Price is net to me and does not include shipping. I am now leaving shipping up to the buyer so they can choose the shipper, insurance, and signature verification.

I really do not understand, why it is so hard to sell this one. It is a fabulous R2R DAC and the Purple fuse upgrade indeed lifts it to next level. IMO this R2R DAC puts all d/s DACs to shame up to 2K and with the fuse upgrade can beat d/s DACs even up to 4K.

Patience is a virtue. Someone looking to upgrade from an Ares who doesn't want to spend $1,500 will grab it eventually. In the meantime, it'll sit safe and sound in it's box awaiting the right person to come along.

I’ve never heard one, so I can’t directly compare. But looking at the architecture, you’re comparing apples and oranges. The BF2 is a Sigma/Delta DAC using 4 chip bases (1 per phase), while the Pegasus uses R2R resistor ladders. This tends to produce a very “analog” or life-like sound. The addition of the Synergistic Research fuses really opens the soundstage tremendously, providing a near-live performance sound.

I would say you’d have to try it and see for yourself which you prefer in your system.
