Glad I didn't pull the trigger on the IE8 last week. Now just gotta wait for the IE80's to be released and for the reviews.

Maybe it'll be like what Shure did with the se530 and 535.

So have the retailers received the stock from the Sennheiser distributors yet?
Do any insiders, or for that matter, does anyone have any confirmation with their retailers of when the IE 80s will be put up for sale? (Someone said somewhere in October, I'm hoping it's earlier)

From the looks of your avatar you own a pair of Victor FX700s? What is your impression on them? Are they treble happy or harsh in the treble? I was considering getting this to add to my kings of dynamics list.

I'm a bit confused by this as well, I'd have figured the IE6 would have been discontinued before the IE7 (maybe the IE6 sold better and that is the reason they kept it while getting rid of the IE7. At least to my knowledge if your IE7 goes on the frits during warranty period Sennheiser will replace them with IE8s instead.

I've heard that IE7 and IE8 shared the same drivers. If so maybe new IE80 could be tuned to sound either IE7 or IE8 alike? Another possibility is what you pointed out - maybe ie6 and 8 sold better than 7. I didn't like IE7 myself so I'm not a bit sad about it's discontinuation. It's still confusing though.

yup just about, now i just wish i replaced my ie7 when the ie80s are out

I can see where the IE7 was the laggard in the group. I liked it more than the IE6 though, and at times more than the IE8.  Hopefully, if it can fill a gap in pricing and sound signature, they'll eventually bring out an update.
