I have not tried it with other cables yet as I do not have another set of 4.4 cables but I will try it with my 1000xm5's in the other port and see if I have the same problem. if it is the same I will do a reset and see if that helps. thank you.

I think it is because of the position of the z5's in your ear and the fact that only the ear bud is actually in contact with your ear that a seal is more successful. Fortunately for me there is no wind in the train!

I have had the z5's for about 3 weeks now and I find they are great for traveling. I commute by train everyday and with a good pair of ear buds the sound does not leak out at all and it cuts about 85% of the external sound out. I have the Shure 535's and the z5 is better sounding and better...

I have had my Z5's for a week now and paired to my ZX2 they sound awesome. I am hearing sounds that I never really heard with my Shure 535's and I'm sure as the hours build they might sound even better!

Thanks dweaver.  I currently have Shure 535's but thanks to your great review of the z5s and others in the forum I am looking forward to a step up in sound.  I am going to pair them with my ZX2 which I am very happy with.

I finally got a refund from buydig's.com. they realized that the weight of the package they sent me clearly indicated that the earphones were not in the box and they were not new either because it was an open box. I ordered a pair from eBay as no other retailers except Amazon stocks them any longer.
