FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp
The update from Fiio: "No, currently the X7 could not turn on when you power up the K5. You would need to power on the X7 by holding the power button." Very disappointing.- colinallcarz

They shut down together fine. However, it doesn't turn on with the K5 when docked. You have to turn the K5 on, then turn on the X7 seperately.- colinallcarz

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
I'm loving the fact that the AM3A is able to drive my headphones (LCD-X, Teak, AFO) really well. I'm liking the K5 I just got in for a little extra oomf. I just wish my X7 mkii would power on when I turn on the K5. It will power down when I turn the knob off, but the X7 goes from the welcome...- colinallcarz

FiiO K5 || FiiO's docking desktop amp
When using with the X7 mkii, is there a setting that lets the X7 turn on when you power up the K5? Right now, my X7 will power down with the K5, but only goes to the charging screen when I turn the K5 on.- colinallcarz

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
Thanks. If that one works, now I'm wondering if some of the cheaper, similar Bluetooth remote for Android work.- colinallcarz

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
Has anyone found a decent remote for this (bonus if it works while the X7 mkii is docked to a K5)? I'm looking for a Fiio rm1, but was hoping there was a better solution.- colinallcarz

How do you match (i.e. what do you use)? I'd like to dabble with that a bit, if the tech isn't too expensive.- colinallcarz

So when you plug the X7 mkii (let's say with the AM3A attached) into the K5, are you bypassing the dac on the X7 for the one in the K5? I would hope you could use the dac from the X7 and then just amplify the signal with the more powerful K5 This part of the hobby makes my head spin.- colinallcarz

I tried the Jot dac/amp combo and could get things to work on the USB with the Fiio. I tried getting help with it, but no one stepped forward. I ended up selling it a bit ago :(.- colinallcarz

Any desktop amp recommendations? I have a Fiio K5 coming to play with but am not sure it will do justice to my LCD-X or Aeon Flow. The AM3A sounds good on both headphones as well, but I can't help but wonder if I can take things to the next level without leaving my dap behind.- colinallcarz

Audeze LCD-X
Any suggesting for an amp around $400 or less (preferably) to run my LCD-X? I'm running a Fiio X7 dap/dac/amp with it, but feel it needs more to make it shine. As an aside, I just got mine. The weight is crazy, but the new headband really helps mitigate this.- colinallcarz
