Orthodynamic Roundup
It's been a while.... Got looped back in by request to repair a driver and saw some old friends :). Very intrigued by @Cifems discovery. This is the first time I have seen a modern planar with traces on both sides of the diaphragm. That is a really interesting design. Was just thinking that...- dBel84

Orthodynamic Roundup
Been slowly starting to explore my vintage collection again. My passion for planar never died, just my priority but using the LETSHUOER S12 planar iem recently, has me exploring possilities again. @ludoo i can empathize with the recovering headphone addict descriptor :)- dBel84

Monoprice Monolith Liquid Platinum - By Alex Cavalli
@dstarr3 if you cannot get it rma'd your plan to use the wall switch will be fine. What's happened, for whatever reason, is the mosfet switch which sits in standby has shorted leaving the amp on all the time. You will neither do the amp, nor the tubes any harm with your work around. A little...- dBel84

@Philimon typically low bass is difficult to localize ( obviously more directional in headphones) but i would try listen to general music as opposed to specific test tones or sweeps. I suspect that your brain will "autocorrect" for it to sound pretty decent. looking at the test results -...- dBel84

can't believe i never cleaned up the excess !! - use the tip of an exacto knife and then peel it off - I use speaker caulking to create a driver seal to the baffle. Measurements with stock "pads" are likely not accurate , you would need a foam padded flat plate coupler to get some sense of FR...- dBel84

You are approaching this the only way it can be done. Trial and error till you find your sweet spot. It always fascinates me how you can get so close and then tweak a little more and lose the thread altogether. Your mission to get this right has inspired me to revisit some older attempts that I...- dBel84

Nick is well. Cabling the YH100 isn't crazy but if you are opening it up, you may as well modify it too.- dBel84

I would strongly suggest that this is not attempted. The HP1 driver is center pinned and if you remove the "button" which is the rivet that holds them together, the drivers will eventually fail (if not immediately). Many other ways to modify without going to these extremes. .. dB- dBel84

Monoprice Monolith Liquid Spark - By Alex Cavalli
Don't assume that you are hearing the amp noise floor. Ground the inputs and repeat. If you don't hear it this time round, the noise is coming from the source. With that said, if I use sensitive headphones with almost any amp and turn it up to max, there is a low level white noise from the...- dBel84

It is not intuitive! The front grid has to come off ( carefully as they crack easily) the entire assembly is then pushed out from the back.. . This is based on memory, I would need to dig out the headphones and go through the process to be more specific .. dB Edit. See this post from kabeer...- dBel84
