I have connected my Panasonic TV to the mscaler using toslink, so the Shield TV I use, or any other source like DVB-C all go through the Mscaler, always. Or do you prefer Shield usb out to mscaler?

I get the soundstage I expect when I sit a little bit closer to the left speaker. Almost in front of the tv. The front of the speakers is before the bookcase, and the bookcase angle to the wall is 115 degrees, not 90, I guess that helps.

Yesterday @Reactcore visited with his optically connected (and power modified) Dave and mscaler so we could compare with my/his TT mscaler combination. It was clear that for pre Dolby recordings the mscaler gives a larger and nicer soundstage, with better placement than Dave or TT2 alone. I...

Let us know before I repeat my dual optical promotion @Reactcore (or @Triode User s dx optical solution, I guess, but I do not have experience with those)

Or just replace for around €50,- of capacitors (see reactcore's thread: https://www.head-fi.org/posts/17425418/) Even if you wire correctly the load can be too much, as was my experience.

To me, as the owner of Reactcore s external optical solution, between mscaler and TT2, it really does not sound more aggressive or harsher. It sounds more resolving and balanced, better soundstaging. Compared to Wave Storm. I do believe Reactcore and MvRie when they say the power modified Dave...
