Fir Audio Thread - Discussion and Impressions

I have both. The color is the same, that’s about it. Ergonomics are far better with the stock cable. I prefer the sound of the stock as well although code 23 is not bad. It’s as you might expect, code 23 emphasizes the bass a bit.

    Best IEM tips?

After going through a bunch of different tips, I settled on Divinus Velvet. It fits well and brings the best out of the MK II. Just an opinion, it works for me.

    SONY IER-Z1R

Just tried Azla Origin with my Z1R’s. They are a little long but somehow there is synergy there. Good seal, at least for me, and a crisp, clear sound. Curious to hear if anyone else has tried this combo.

Unique Melody Bone Conduction Family (MEST&MEXT and their siblings) Announcement and Impression Thread.

Azla crystal tips are pretty similar, I prefer them to the xelastec tips. For the MK2, I use Divinus Velvet tips, not similar to the two Azla’s but very comfortable. Somehow, at least for me, they fit real well with the MK2s.

Astell&Kern Launches New R-2R DAP and IEMs at High End Munich 2023

Mine takes about 10 seconds every time I start up. Hours? That doesn’t sound right. Maybe try a different SD card?

Er…. I put a piece of tape over the button to decrease the gap between the button and the case. It worked.

Might be your internet? The gui is pretty laggy but I don’t have any streaming issues. I have only used Qobuz.

    Best IEM tips?

Not similar in my opinion. Spiral dot are rounder, shorter and and softer. They are a little stretchier for large nozzles. Velvet are smoother and fit deeper for me. I usually seem to get a better fit with velvet, so they are my preference. Both are comfortable and don’t “stick“ to your ear the...

Evolving the UM Reference: A New Chapter for the Mason Series—Mason Nuit Étoilée & Soleil Tombé

Problems with the price of UM iem’s? Or any high end (er, ultra high end) iem’s? Well, that is what this game has become. If someone is willing to pay then they will make them. Don’t just blame the company for making more and better stuff and charging crazy prices. Someone is buying them. Iem...

    Best IEM tips?

Velvet tips are one of my favorites. Tips are so fit dependent and everybody’s ears are different. These and most Azlas are what I use mostly.

On a mission to like jazz

Eddie Higgins, a favorite of mine. Flawless technique. His releases on the Venus label are exceptionally well recorded. Truly underrated and overlooked.

Qobuz works for me, no issues (other than the typical lag)

Weighing in a little late on the SE300 but here goes… I wouldn’t call the SE300 bright, it is more neutral and smooth in my opinion. I like pairing it with Odin’s, it tends to calm down the upper mid/treble peak that can be a little harsh at times. Compared to the N8ii, it is far more warm and...

Somebody likes gold. Nice. And, if you like Hank Crawford, try out some Houston Person.
