Are the portapros open headphones?   The biggest sound improvement i've experienced so far was from the dt990 with it extremely wide soundstage, clarity and very punchy bass.  Unless the portapros can deliver ALL of the above, i dont know if they are comparable.

300 dollars are when it's a good price for MSVP for headphone, but no one would pay for that.   DT990 on average cost 300, but for some reason, the DT990 Pro 250 ohm only cost 150 bucks.  I havent found a single headphone around 1,000 or under that sound better yet.

  Another benefit of a 1k speaker setup is that if you have multiple friends you want to share the music with, you can WOW all of them with it.

Hey, thanks for the reply regarding volume.  I definitely need to learn this.  That formula looks pretty complicated and probably later today, i'll look more into it to calculate my own DB.

I put them on the same amount of volume as if i would be listening to them at home.  I like to protect my ears so i dont increase it higher than normal, which is around 60-70 percent on my Lg Optimus L9 phone.
