Timbre of everything is better, even the bass. midbass is stronger than subbass, which I like. More treble and upper mids but somehow smoother. Staging and imaging is better, mainly due to the open back design. More pinpoint and a tad more detailed.

Got the acro ca1000, it is on par with my modded wm1a sound wise, I don't think the extra power's doing anything, I think the modded mv1 beats the mdr z1r still :)

Forgot to update. the wm1a and ca1000 are basically on par sound wise. the mdr z1r and mv1 do not gain anything from the extra power.

Can you check j3 too? that seems to be the best region, plus the most advanced one :)

Regions absolutely 1000% do something. I guess it's like the cable arguement that if it doesn't show on graph apparently it doesn't make a difference.

mv1 scales really well. They sound terrific off of my acro ca1000 and my npaudio modded 1a :) I don't think the sennies can do what these do

The hd660s doesn't sound mid forward to me, it sounds muffled / dark compared to the mv1. The mv1 doesn't sound v shaped to me

personally I love them. I can see some prefering them to the mdr z1r, to me they're more of a sidegrade to each other. wider, yes, not too much, mainly deeper and much taller. the rumble is there but it's not insane, it's midbass oriented with more of a basskick oomph. I tried the hd660s and...
