I use the N3U in the mode explained by Andykong. Ex. Audio In No USB Power.

The unit features a USB DAC mode. This feature permits use of a mobile device via an OTG USB C cable.

I don’t use it either.

Negative. All good. The DAP has EQ for user preference.
