Just to get a feel as to who's in this community...
I'm a registered nurse. Served 2 years in a refugee camp on the Thai-Cambodian border w/ Cambodian refugees. And quite unfortunately, I have a chronic disability--not necessarily work related. Yeah...bummer. I've been involved in music all of my life in one way or another. Was 1st...- lolo

VPI upgraded anti-skate for Classic .....seen reviews ???
Thank you for checking that out for me. I suppose I should'a reviewed the original product description on VPI's website, eh? Well as it stands, my friend is going to make sure the upgraded version is sent in place of the original...and we'll take it from there. I'm wondering if my dealer, who...- lolo

VPI upgraded anti-skate for Classic .....seen reviews ???
Hey Jerico. Ya' see...my dealer thought VPI did not include the AS unless one ordered it. I just e-mailed VPI customer service to get the skinny. Would it be in the least bit convenient for you to either double check with your dealer to see if he simply ordered the AS skate for you, or, if...- lolo

VPI upgraded anti-skate for Classic .....seen reviews ???
Yes. It's a different one, depending on when you ordered your Classic. It's still a mechanical anti-skate. But they were having difficulties with the original a.-s. I read a bit from Harry Weisfeld, the head kahuna at VPI; he recommended against using their a.-s. device. The following is an...- lolo

VPI upgraded anti-skate for Classic .....seen reviews ???
There is a new upgraded, or more accurately said, fixed anti-skate device, made by VPI, for the 10.5i tonearm used in their Classic series. It's not on VPI's current "Retail Price Sheet" dated Oct. 2010. It's baby brand new but I stumbled upon it here: ...- lolo

EAR 834p available
Ooops. Forgot to mention: the only way to find this ad on A'gon is to select "in any category." It hasn't shown up when I select "pre-phono." According to the US distributor for Dynvector, Mike Franka, this amp pairs particularly well with the VPI Classic turn table w/ a Dynavector Karat 17D3...- lolo

FYI. There is an upgraded EAR 834p (tube preamp w/ phono stage) available on AudiogoN. The ad does not include the the following details: 4 yrs. old. Upgrades: MIT Polypropylene coupling cap between stages and an unknown brand of polystyrene for the output. Modified output tube biasing to use a...- lolo

Thank you Purrin. I love the simplicity of the first/second mod: Lead+Dynamat. Generally, what kinds of sound changes might you expect w/ a change of power supply caps? What makes of caps do you recommend?- lolo

Well hello, Uncle Eric. It's an honor to meet you. I've run into a number of your posts along the way. Thanks for the DAC idea. I will strongly consider that. Do you have some good, cheap DAC's to recommend? Here's my ignorance showing again: Does a CD player use coupling caps? ...- lolo
