Yes, to be clear there are 2 different firmware for these devices, one for USB MCU and one for all and it will update the USB MCU at the same time. 1.8 is the latest for the Ares but it may not the same for the Venus.- Majors

You can check here https://www.denafrips.com/firmware-update-usb if you have the latest 3.12 USB MCU firmware, 3.14 is only if you want software based volume control. Good luck.- Majors

Once you install the Denafrips USB audio device control panel it will show the version. I believe there was three versions but I'm not sure 1.0 is the original.- Majors

That is excellent news that they fixed what I feel is the only flaw with my FA-22. I was just responding to streaml1ne`s assesment " however the relay ladder on Mentor does not appear to be linear and it gets loud real fast if I bump up the volume."- Majors

I`m really not a fan of the FLA volume ramp up. Right at the start of listening levels you loose the fine adjustment needed and get large swings of volume. Not optimal in my situation.- Majors
