I experienced similar issues when plugged my BT-W5 into a docking station connected to work laptop. Interestingly, it works just fine with my home laptop through same docking station.

Here's a nice comparison with few other open-ears, with call samples. What I strongly agree with Andy is that starting price tag is hard to justify.
