I did hastily jump to this conclusion. However after two days in it's box, and then a start-over, with location change and space between other components, the unit mechanical/transformer noise seems to be quieting down. I will keep the Yggdrasil.

This was transformer hum. The unit hummed whether it was connected to another device or not. Pulled the power cord, it stopped humming. No signal hum. I could detect hum through the open headphones during quiet passages, turn the volume up and mask the hum.

Currently the Freya+ is disconnected, MJ3 by itself. Definitely enjoy what the Freya brings to the MJ3, but MJ3 stands alone just fine. Not concerned about power and Tungstens not on my horizon

The Bifrost2/64 was my introduction to Schiit. I enjoy the BF with MJ3 with Urd and LCD2. As I have no other DAC to compare, nor any other head amp, what I hear from Mjolnir 3 leaves me not lacking or wanting...yet planning MIB before April is done.
