  1. Ultrasone Edition 8 Carbon

    4.50 star(s)
I can't put into words how much I love the Edition 8, my favorite closed headphones. Ultrasone sound signature has always been my thing, and these edition 8 IMO are Ultrasone at it's best. I have gone up and down the Ultrasone lineup as I love them, and this is the winner. These are for people who listen to music for enjoyment, who like non-fatiguing sound that is presented in an extremely fun but detailed sound. They are the definition of fun if you are looking for that in a high end package. They have the best imaging of any closed back I have...

  3. Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee

    4.50 star(s)
This would be a good all rounder recommendation for anyone, new or old. They sound full, warm but energetic, and they do a great job balancing of all aspects of sound. They lack in terms of soundstage size, everything sounds a bit close. They are priced to be extremely competitive at the $150 level. The main difficulty these run into is the existence of the HD600 and HD6XX, though it can in either case, be an addition. The HD600 is a little more resolving and has a better less closed in soundstage. Mids are better on it as well. They beat these...
  4. Sennheiser HD 600

    5.00 star(s)
There's not much for me to say about these as they are perfect headphones that deserve to be in everyone's collection. The HD600 is a legendary headphone and rightfully so. When listening, you will hear a full track portrayed with excellent detail, with great resolution. They sound they produce is out of their price level, sounding multiple times their price and the midrange is simply benchmark. The timbre is fantastic, vocals sound totally natural without any weird colorations. They are clean and clear. Bass is punchy, midrange is just right...
  5. SIVGA SV021

    4.50 star(s)
These are great cans with a potent and emphasized warm low end and sparkly highs. They are crisp sounding despite the very large bass presence. They are very dynamic/impactful in their bass presentation. They have a somewhat open sound considering they are closed back. There are vents on the cups and perhaps that contributes to this more open sound profile. These are for people who are looking for a comfortable and fun bass emphasized can with an energetic and fun sound. Just keep in mind they are colored, these have a boosted but tasteful bass...
  6. Ultrasone PRO 900

    4.00 star(s)
The Pro 900 is special. It's the bass, which goes very deep, very low, and sounds powerful. This headphone also has some good impact, slamming nice and hard on electro house tracks. The bass goes deep, but it doesn't sound overly uncontrolled or boomy. Okay, so it has great bass. What else? These also have great detail. If you've never heard Ultrasones before, it's a safe bet you will hear things in your music you haven't heard before with their extended highs and very clear sound. Now the mids. They are recessed. Even though this is true, it...
  7. Denon AHD2000 High Performance Over-Ear Headphones

    3.50 star(s)
For the low price point that these now sell at, it's hard to find a much better choice. Its sub bass is powerful and it adds a very fun bottom end to EDM music. Good sub bass is hard to find in a headphone, but the D2000 excels in this area. In addition, they present music in a large but natural soundstage. They are detailed and perform well un-amped! If you do not have a separate DAC/AMP unit, these still sound good. I enjoy playing them straight out of my macbook, with itunes or watching youtube with them, although I own equipment I can use...
