This is one of those "buy now think later" type of deals.

I happen to have a Bifrost 1 Multibit w/ Unison USB upgrade. When comparing Unison with coax running from a Schiit Etir, I prefer the coax over Unison. Unison sounded a bit too crisp and raw whereas coax was more smooth and laid back.

Yup same. The whole point of Modi Multibit 2 is the USB input since its predecessor had subpar USB. You don't gain anything switching to Modi Multibit 2 except for a smaller form factor. You will get a more neutral sound signature with it as well, but I don't know whether if that is a pro or con.
