ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
There's always a little bit of a trade off when swapping pads. You gain something, and lose something else. When switching from the Auteur lamb or Universe to hybrid I lose a little bit of the bass, but gain some clarity in the region where vocals are while also smoothing out some of the edges...- JackarlTwo

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Glad you found a config that works! I couldn't really get the radial vented mesh or no mesh work for me. It sounded really great but there were times when I found it too hot in the treble, mostly depending on the source music, and how loud I listen. The solid mesh works really well for me and...- JackarlTwo

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
One of the nicest looking wooden headphones. Pairs well (aesthetically) with the Decware too!- JackarlTwo

ZMF Spring Limiteds, CanJam NYC and Estimated Release Schedule for Caldera Closed and BOKEH Open!
I can relate. It's one of those moments we "audiophiles" keep chasing. When everything seems to align so well. The moments when you're stunned after a song or album. Impossible to describe. Even with modest equipment I can get there, and coincidentally it's often with ZMF headphones. Good luck...- JackarlTwo

Fully agree. I wouldn't normally recommend pad-rolling with most headphones. Always stay within reason and don't go too crazy. Even with ZMF headphones in particular I do try to stay within the recommended pads and it always works fine. Once you go 3rd party it's really easy to ruin the sound.- JackarlTwo

I love pad-rolling especially with ZMF headphones and just to experiment with the sound. I've been neglecting the Auteur Hybrid pads on my Atrium for well over 6 months, because there are better sounding pads for it. I figured I'd give them another shot the other day, but it just didn't sound...- JackarlTwo

I really like the AO for games and movies. The AC would be even better with its elevated sub-bass. Not that the VC is lacking sub-bass but the AC does rumble a bit more.- JackarlTwo

Question: RME ADI-2/4 Pro SE DAC Chipset Used?
I'm 99% sure it uses the same DAC chip but two of them. Edit: it uses ADC: 1x ES9822Pro DAC: 2x ES9038Q2M I was thinking of the older Pro Black Edition which uses AK4493.- JackarlTwo

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Atrium is such a chameleon of a headphone. Been listening to some Natalie Merchant, Joni Mitchell tonight. Mostly vocal and acoustic stuff. The sound is warm, pleasant, vocals in front. Switching to something like Rage Against is like a brutal kick to the ear drums (in the best way). From warm &...- JackarlTwo

Eufonika (Valve amps from Poland)
I've been enjoying some mild tube rolling with this amp and especially this combination. The small GEC CV4079 tubes sound wonderful, they sound pretty close to the Mullard 6080 I have, but perhaps slightly "slammier" and sweeter overall. Svetlana 6AS7G sound amazing with this amp too, but can be...- JackarlTwo

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
I'm sure everyone has heard this already but this live album sounds absolutely fantastic on Atrium. Meaty, huge sound. For whatever reason I don't think I've listened to this album yet with these headphones. Too much good music! As usual Youtube compression sucks so definitely find a good...- JackarlTwo

Round two with the GEC A2293/CV4079. These are dated 1981, but sound really sweet. Had a few listening sessions and no problems so far.- JackarlTwo

It is a nice pair with beautiful patterns. I would probably ask for a new pair as well but only you can decide whether the B-stock discount matters more.- JackarlTwo

Yeah I quickly noticed it's just a part of the glass, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be bent like that. For now I just use a marker to easier identify the correct orientation.- JackarlTwo

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
It wouldn't surprise me if this poll gets tied. All of them are great options IMHO. I think the Caldera pads have the better "technicalities", is more neutral and with the best spatial qualities. When I want a slightly more colored/ euphonic/ fun sound I pick the Auteur or the Universe pads, not...- JackarlTwo

ZMF Caldera Closed
I really like this method of changing meshes on the Caldera/ Caldera Closed. Instead of potentially damaging the wooden threads by inserting and removing screws, at worst you'll ruin the adhesive which is much cheaper and easier to fix.- JackarlTwo

Very true. Typically you don't wanna adjust the rod screws at all. Once you get everything dialed in you're most likely good to go! I haven't changed anything in over a year because it sits perfectly. I think the clamp will loosen a bit over time and adjust to your head too, but they definitely...- JackarlTwo

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
The rod adjustments can be pretty tight. Mine were very tight when they were new too. You can loosen them slightly, but do it a tiny amount, step by step. Also make sure you're grabbing it the right way. I think the best way is to grab the gimbals with one hand and use your other hand to sort of...- JackarlTwo
