They really are, I also have some Mazda 6v6gt st and they are not just super great tighting the low end but also enhancing soundstage. You can also try the mullards gt version t shape. They are cheaper than Mazdas and the presentation is very close to the Mazdas.

I generally turn the volume up to 3 o'clock. It's the same level my DAC provides, and I keep my FA-12 at around 12 o'clock. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. For me it's Superb combo.
