The Headphone Driver Pics Thread
There are already a lot of pics posted of various headphone drivers in different threads, but this thread is intended to consolidate them all into one thread. That way we can analyze and spot driver differences or similarities between various headphone models and brands. So if you have ever...- tyre

MS2i question
I have an (admittedly shallow) question about the Alessandro MS2i earcups. Is the entire earcup made of aluminum? I was looking at a picture of the SR325 and noticed that the only the outer section in made of aluminum while the inner section attached to the driver is plastic. I hope this isn't...- tyre

Terra Naomi
If you're an acoustic music fan, you might want to check out a few of Terra Naomi's songs on her myspace site. The Vicodin Song is my favorite, just female vocals and a piano. http://www.myspace.com/terranaomi her website... http://www.terranaomi.com/index.php Unfortunately, you have... -

some interesting AKG K340 info
While searching through the USPTO website for headphone related patents, I ran across a patent issued to AKG back in the '70's. It's titled "Headphone Operating on the Two-Way System". The patent describes a system in which an electret tranducer is used to reproduce high frequencies and a...- tyre

electrostatic amp using monolithic opamps?
I was curious if it would be possible to make an electrostatic headphone amp using monolithic high-voltage opamps. Would the high gain needed roll-off the high frequencies if the opamp used didn't have a very high bandwidth? How high of a voltage gain would be needed to get sufficient volume?- tyre

Stanton Dynaphase Sixty headphones
Here's a pair of vintage Stanton Dynaphase Sixty headphones (aka Pickering PH-4955). These headphones are kind of unique in that they are 2-way, with a separate driver for low and high frequencies in each earcup. I got this pair off of ebay and, unfortunately, one the right side drivers is...- tyre

interesting electrostatic stuff
I found this site while googling for electrostatic related info. It has a variety of Stax headphones and amplifiers that have been disassembled showing the internals. http://exp4.hp.infoseek.co.jp/lineup.htm (babelfished version) The most interesting is the Stax Omega II's deconstructed...- tyre

TPA6120 headphone amp
Here's my noob attempt at a TPA6120 based headphone amplifier. Here's the schematic. It's similar to the THS6012 preamp schematic in this article by Rod Elliot, although somewhat simplified. The pcb dimensions are 1.7" by 1.3". That might actually be too small of a board area for the TPA6120...- tyre
