I mean… it could also be “worse” than Amber Pearl, price doesn’t always mean “better” in this hobby imo 🤷🏽♂️- aaf evo

Introducing Shanling M30 - Modular Desktop Hi-Fi Streaming Player
Considering picking up an M30 Plus but I have a question, for the on-board Android apps do these have to be updated via Shanling through firmware or can you update them yourself in any way? Thanks!- aaf evo

I can only imagine how that sounds! I think having a desktop piece that’s great for IEMs too is a great choice. The Lotoo Mjolnir (for my tastes) blows away any DAP I’ve heard and that’s not even a “proper” desktop piece of gear. I’ll hopefully try the DMP-Z1 this year but I’m not sure I’d buy...- aaf evo

No fit issues on Traillii for me minus the occasional vacuum seal. I was just suggesting alternatives that I think should be considered in place of Traillii since that doesn’t work for him. I think 622b is also a decent shout but I found it’s mid range to be fairly dry and lacking in that...- aaf evo

Hmmm hot take maybe? - try Melodic Artification Alter Ego if you haven’t already. I preferred it to both OG and Ti Traillii for that softer more relaxing playback that has great timbre.- aaf evo

New top Lotoo Mjolnir
Yeah, I certainly wouldn’t mind if it was included for free. 😃 at this price and the lack of a charging brick was already quite annoying lol!- aaf evo

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier
It might be! Some sources do this and some shut off the amp when you aren’t playing anything. I just find it’s more practical to check for noise with quiet passages as music is playing as it’s more representative of normal use case.- aaf evo

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier
If you are pausing it you are likely disabling the amp entirely so you shouldn’t hear any hiss. I’d suggest a test where you play music with quieter passages and listen that way.- aaf evo

Reply to review by 'aaf evo' on item 'Craft Ears Omnium'
Great review! I am a huge fan of the Omnium and opted to buy them as a CIEM for myself after owning them in universal. However, if you are going to use my measurements for your content I would appreciate being credited for them.- aaf evo

FiiO M15S Pocket Desktop-Level Player Discussion & Impressions Thread
I can also confirm this play/pause issue happens on a lot of DAPs that aren’t FiiO. It must be an Android thing? It happens on my R8 II but I didn’t notice it happening on the AK SP3000T. What works for me is pushing play two or three times.- aaf evo

Do you still intend to get a CIEM or has that idea died down for you given there seems to be no ETA?- aaf evo

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
Haha I gave the ZMF Caldera open-backs a try last week at home, I have accepted that I need IEM isolation at all times or I don't feel too engaged with my music. I'll be lurking around here though! :beerchug: Congrats on the thread launch!- aaf evo

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
It's been SO long since I've had a Campfire IEM. Do you happen to know how Trifecta and Bonneville are in sensitivity relative to stuff like Andro and Fathom? Their all BA sets I think tend to be more problematic with noise. I know Supermoon is quite power hungry, but I can't recall the other...- aaf evo

Yes this is definitely how it is, it doesn't "drive" Storm well but it sounds nice like you mentioned. 100% a tone over tech flavor for Storm in this case.- aaf evo

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
I am waiting for some more feedback from users also. I was testing the SP3000T with the Subtonic Storm which is a notoriously insensitive IEM. I have some friends that are saying the SP3000T on tube mode is unusable with very sensitive sets such as the Vision Ears X/10 or certain Campfire Audio...- aaf evo
