Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
Chord is another example that balanced is not required, dac/amp can sound great and be powerful enough with SE The lack of unnecessary gimmicks is a pro in my book, not a con- Tiax

Dac/Amp question
Why is that? Nothing in the specs suggests it. Your Hip-Dac 3 is fine, you don't need to upgrade.- Tiax

Evolving the UM Reference: A New Chapter for the Mason Series—Mason Nuit Étoilée & Soleil Tombé
Maybe i'm still missing a point, but i don't see how more overpriced flagships affect me. Every price range is getting more competitive, we have so many more choices now comparing to 5-10-15 years ago. Some people with deep pockets will spend even more on their new toys? Don't care, good for...- Tiax

Do balanced cable improve sound quality?
Balanced in itself is not better. There is nothing to be gained sonically that could not also be gained with a well designed SE amp. For interconnects, the pros of balanced is noise immunity. For DAPs and earphones/headphones, it's mostly just marketing. And very rare cases of using a headphone... -
SONY NW-ZX700
Sure, didn't like it, i get itchy ears fast. For M9, i have double flange tips that work the bets for me, no vacuum effect and it feels like they don't completely seal, and yet they do, isolation is good, bass is all there, sound is the best from all the tips i've tried (and it's a LOT of tips...- Tiax

SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
The thing is, all these magical self developed components don't offer much real improvement, since off-the-shelf stuff is already very very good. WM1AM2 is great, but so are many other DAPS and dac/amps around this price. For the sound only i'd rather take mojo2 for example 🤷♂️- Tiax

Westone W80
They don't have any bass though ) In the brief time i had them, i was constantly torn between "this music actually sounds pretty good" and "this is terrible, 100$ iems can do better"- Tiax

SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
Is there something special about Sony that attracts this kind of people, or are there microSD card believers in other threads as well? Or are all of them buy Sony DAP eventually and end up here? 🤷♂️- Tiax

Tempotec V3 DAP - small, powerful, functional with Hiby OS
It also depends on how you plan to use it. I'm actually fine with mine, now that i've found microSD that works. For me it's a simple spare DAP to play local flac and mp3, that drives all my headphones and iems and sounds really good, so i'm keeping it even if Tempotec never fixes any bugs...- Tiax

Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
Can't agree with you there, for me M9 is clearly both more capable technically and better tuned iem. Mach 70 isn't terrible, but overpriced and requires some EQ to sound decent.- Tiax

FIIO Q15 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
Contrary to the popular beliefs on head-fi, when you already have enough power, and nothing weird is going on (like an extra noise on one source, huge impedance difference between them, DSP etc) replacing one source with another actually makes a very little difference. So congrats, you've...- Tiax
