Replacement cable for Beyerdynamic MMX
Have an MMX 300 with a failed cable. This is an unusual TRRRS to TRRS cable. I really don't want the inline control. Is there a way to get a straight through cable? Thanks- sbradley02

Beyerdynamic MMX 300 Cable
I ordered an MMX 300 to replace my failing Custom Game. I hate in line cable controls, too easy to inadvertently activate them. Each end of the supplied cable appears to be a 4 pole 3.5mm connector. Can I just use a straight through 4 pole cable? Beyer support seems to be unhelpful in getting an...- sbradley02

Looking for a new DAP
I have used Fiio DAPs for several years and have been reasonably happy. I currently have an X5ii. Recently I have been wanting to use shuffle play and the Fiio implementation is pretty much useless. The Sony 45 series looks interesting, but with only 7mW into my Beyer's 80 ohm impedance (and...- sbradley02

Leather pads for Beyerdynamic DT770 / Custom
Years ago I bought real leather pads for my DT770 from Beyerdynamic. These have been discontinued. I have a Custom Game and am not happy with the pads. Any real leather pads out there in the stock configuration? I have tried Dekoni, much thicker and uncomfortable for me.- sbradley02

Waterproof DAP for swimming?
Looking for a good solution that is small, easy to use, good shuffle mode, and truly waterproof. Sound quality less important. I found a waterproofed shuffle, but not a fan of Apple in general, and especially their requirement to install iTunes, which I have no desire to use. Looking for folks...- sbradley02

Tube Rolling - Japanese NOS
I recently upgraded my JoLida tube DAC, went from the Mk 1 to Mk 3 version. I decided to do a little tube rolling. First went from the stock TungSol to (repro) Gold Lion. Was a significant improvement. Then for the heck of it, decided to try a NOS. Most NOS 12AX7 are silly expensive. I decided...- sbradley02

Ultrasone Edition 8 Loaner?
I am thinking of replacing my LCD-XC with something lighter. The only possibilities I have come up with is the t5p and the edition 8. I can borrow the Beyers from Cable Company. Anyone come across an Ultrasone internet dealer with a similar program? No one local has them.- sbradley02

Poll for Fiio X3 Sound Signature
There was a comment in the X5 thread that no one else has described the X3 as being bright besides me (I should add a note that this was with my X3 out of the box, and with notoriously hard to drive headphones) This prompted me to start up a poll to see what other folks think. If you use the...- sbradley02

Looking for tube guards / cages
So far this is all I have been able to find: http://www.vt4c.com/shop/program/main.php?cat_id=1030&group_id=2&hit_cat= I really like the die cast unit but that is too large for my signal tubes. Nice removal method and really protects the tubes (and casual people who might try to touch...- sbradley02

Colorfly C4 SD cards
I have just started using my new Colorfly and have had issues with two different SD cards, both 32GB. A SanDisk Class 4 and PNY Class 10. Issue is that each song skips a bit around 30 seconds after it starts. Support says to use the HAMA Class 6 which is not available in the US. What are...- sbradley02

Anyone try the Audioquest DragonFly DAC/Amp yet?

Least efficient / lowest sensitivity headphones?
I am working on a project and I need some data. I need to know the least efficient headphones I am likely to run into from the Head-Fi community. Headphones that require a special interface like electrostatics wouldn't apply - only those that can be powered via a standard 1/4" plug. ...- sbradley02

A Comparison of two Marantz multi-channel DACs
First some background. My primary home listening system is my home theater. I use my headphones and associated gear for the office and travel. My preamp-processor is a Marantz AV8003, a nice mid-level unit. I have had it for a couple of years now and have been quite happy with it. Until this...- sbradley02

Beyerdynamic DT770 / MMX 100 Promotion
I don't know how many people are signed up for Beyer's email list. They have a nice promotion in June. Note that I am not in any way associated with the company and already have a pair of DT770s. I have a suspicion that this is only good for online purchases from the Beyer storefront, and if...- sbradley02

Burn High Bit Rate FLAC to Blu-Ray?
Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere. Now that I have a shiny new Blu-Ray writer, is there any way to take a high bit/sample rate FLAC (say 88 or 176KHz/24 bit) and burn to one of the high definition formats (LPCM most likely to be available due to licensing) supported by Blu-Ray...- sbradley02

REVIEW: Leckerton Audio UHA-6S USB & TOSLINK DAC/Amp
EDIT: May 22, 2011 First a little background. I have been heavily involved in high-end audio for decades, but I am a relative newcomer to mobile audio. I have only been using it for around 5 years, and have only recently come up with a system that I can call high-end, due in no small part to...- sbradley02

B&W P5 vs Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro-80 - quick impression
I am a happy Beyer owner. With all the buzz on the B&Ws I was excited to borrow a co-worker's pair of P5s to compare. The two are pretty close in bass, surprising with the very different design. The B&Ws are more forward in the midrange and little more recessed in the highs. Sound isolation is...- sbradley02

Portable USB/DAC setup?
I have been thinking for awhile that one of the best audio experiences one could get in a portable rig would be to combine a player with USB audio out with a portable USB DAC/amp. HiFiMAN HM601 and Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80s?
I am currently using a Cowon D2 and a Total AirHead. The Cowon definitely doesn't drive the Beyers adequately by itself. The HM601 is very attractive, but its size would make carrying around the AirHead also a bit of a pain. Does anyone have any idea as to whether the HM601 would...- sbradley02
