Beresford Bushmaster MKII appreciation thread
Hey there, just turn the computer software volume up full, control the headphone volume with the volume control on the Bushmaster. Turning down the software volume is usually a bad idea. Typically you are truncating the data word length, somebody with more computer savvy can explain the problem...- Chris J

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
Yes, my FiiO music does whatever it wants whenever it wants, not what I want it to do! Seriously, I do get the odd random song jump, i.e skips over songs in albums sometimes.- Chris J

FiiO X7 Mk II 2GB RAM + 64GB ROM + ESS9028 PRO + Balanced + DSD + BT 4.1 aptX + Dual mSD + Dual Band WiFi + Opt Out
I picked up a FiiO X7 II to replace my FiiO X5 1st Gen a few weeks ago. First observation was it sounds much more open and less muffled than the X5 i. But I gotta say, after using the X7 ii for a few weeks, I find the operating system is rather buggy! I have faith; it took a few updates to get...- Chris J

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt! Unless the firmware is changing the DAC algorithms, I can’t see an operating system upgrade changing the sound of the X7ii! Anyone from FiiO care to comment?- Chris J

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)
Wow, Don’t hold back guys, what do you really think? I must be stuck in a time warp. My Beresford Caiman still sounds good........to me. Perhaps I should trade it in for this year’s model. What’s the fashionable DAC this year?- Chris J

Amping for AKG Q701
The 336 sounds good with the stock Chinese tubes, but it sounds even better with a nice set of NOS tubes. If you like it with the stock tubes, you'll love it with NOS tubes. I think the output impedance of the 336 is too high for the Q701 'phones.- Chris J

Amping for AKG Q701
Hi, I have a Figaro 336C (basically the same amp). It does not work too well with my Q701. It's been year sisnce I tried that combo out, but I found the bass was rather muddy, and, very broadly speaking, just a rather unsattisfying experience. Generally, I find my 336C sounds bets with high...- Chris J

Audio Technica ATH- ES 10 Impressions Thread
I used to own a pair of fake ATH-ESW10, very difficult to tell they were fakes by examining them, but the sound was very uninvolving, I hardly ever listened to them. I later got a pair of real ESW9, I use them all the time with my iPad.- Chris J
