Selling my SE535. The version I have includes the wireless adapter (which I never used). It came with a cable that has a microphone, switchable Apple or Android (also never used), but I purchased an non-miked cable from Shure and will include that, as well. I have all the original packaging...

    **Shure SE425 Review**

Just picked up a set of the SE425 on the "bay" and liking them. Listening to Pay Metheny / Road to the Sun. Clarity is excellent. Bass is present and nicely controlled. Perfect presentation of acoustic guitar.

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

@SomeTechNoob I agree with your description of the sound stage and imaging of the K553. I don't know if it is small relative to other closed back headphones, but it isn't wide. As you said, the imaging on the K553 is superb. I have tried the Dekoni Beyer pads (pleather) on my K553. They fit...

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

@Themilkman46290 Not enough people ranting, in my opinion. That is how these things go when consumers buy in to the marketing hype, and allow it to trump common sense.

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

@Themilkman46290 I was not aware that Samsung was now parent company of AKG. I would not say that this bodes well for the future of AKG. I looked at K371 (wired--totally agree with your comment regarding Bluetooth) and there is no way that the K371 are pro studio headphones as they are...

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

I should have added that I purchased the Brainwavz sheepskin pads to replace the stock pleather. I knew from my previous experience that the stock pads would not last long. I did not notice any significant change in the sound going from pleather to sheepskin (unlike pleather to velour...

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

Wanted to weigh in here as long time user of the AKG K553. Have had two K553's. This first with fixed cable, modded by me for replaceable cable (3.5 mm jack), sold in 2019, and re-acquired in 2020 (removable cable Mk II). Between K553's tried lots of other headphones, including open back, but...

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

@B9Scrambler @JohnnyOps Thanks for the replies...these are great headphones and I highly recommend the Brainwavz sheepskin pads. Very comfortable and in my opinion extremely well made. Have either of you tried velour or microsuede pads on the K553?

The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)

Anyone have experience with the Brainwavz XL velour or microsuede on the AKG K553 Pro Mk II (or other headphone in this family)? I switched out the stock AKG pads for the Brainwavz XL sheepskin...very nice. Quality is excellent and the leather is much better for extended listening sessions...

New release - the AKG K553 Pro - featuring a killer Massdrop deal

This thread is long since dead, but I just acquired these for the second time (had them and sold them a few years ago before the removable cable became standard and before my sojourn into Grado's). I did not recall how impressive they are, especially for the price, $99. I switched out the stock...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Thank you for the detailed response. I did not notice that the iEMatch significantly altered the sound from my iPod Classic. I also have the SE535. It was primary IEM prior to getting the SE846. Thanks again, and stay safe.

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

@ruthieandjohn I have followed your posts on the Grado thread and am familiar with the meticulous work you have done on rating the various Grado models. I find your rankings to be very close to my preferences. I am curious to know which iPod you are using. I have had my SE846 for about two...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

So, I received iEMatch today. I had only been using my SE846 with my desktop setup (Magni3). My portable set up is iPod Classic - LOD - JDS Labs C5 - SE846. With the OI mismatch the 846 were not sounding very sweet. The iEMatch sure seems to do the job.

What the $^&# heck is it?.........iFi iEMatch!

Received my iEMatch today. Using it with iPod Classic - LOD - JDS Labs C5 - SE846. Works very, very well. I have had the SE846 about two weeks and had been primarily using them with my desktop rig (Magni3). The OI mismatch between my portable rig and the 846 destroyed the sweet sound of the...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I have had my SE846 for about two weeks and have been using them at my desk via Magni3 (very low OI). Will the iFi iEMatch allow me to use the SE846 with my iPod (160Gb Gen 7...relatively high OI to my understanding)?

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

There is something to be said for "slow and steady" wins the race. Shure has taken this approach and in my mind it make sense. They release very few modifications/revisions to their product line in the same time period that other companies release multiple new models and incremental...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

@IEMusic Thanks for the hints on the triple flange tip mod. I have an unopened package of these that I picked up from Shure when I purchased a replacement cable for my SE215. I have not started tip rolling with the SE846 as I have been focused on trying the filter options. Now that I have...
