Best phone as a digital transport is...?

Not really "head-fi" but, thought I'd ask this here given the experience many have with mobile phones as transports. I'm in the process of building a 9-channel, fully active audio system which uses a digital audio processor complete with cross overs, time alignment, and DAC for incoming digital...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

As there's no distributor here in Australia, I shopped directly from Dita. Send the boys an email (see the Dita website for details) and they'll advise how it's done. They were very helpful when I purchased my The Answers and shipping was less than a week.   Or, if you travel through...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

I had the same issue with my iPhone 5 and Cleave Crystal bumper. I did a fairly easy DIY mod and replaced the Dita plug with a Furutech with 4mm stand-off that allows the plug to fit into the case/bumper. The Furutech plug quality is superb and I used copper/Silver content solder for my...

    Bicycle-Fi!

My XC weapon of choice. The 120mm fork makes it a capable trail bike and I probably ride it on the edge of its designed use.

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Just listening to mine now with some Disclosure Project (deep house). It's a little loud but not fatiguing in any way. Full of deep, bassy energy, sweet, full mids, and clear, airy highs all in a big and expansive sound filled sphere around me.

I did this too while awaiting delivery of a new 3.5mm plug for my Ditas (I soldered a smaller profile one on to fit through my iPhone 5's Cleave bumper). I was Dita-less for about 5 weeks and had to revert to listening to my AU$32 Xiaomi Pistons (which are surprisingly good mind you).   I got...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

A captive cable was a deal breaker at first for me too but then the more I thought about it and read reviews on various cables and the Ditas, the more I realised that I just wanted to listen to the music and not be fussed with trying different cables. In the past, I have lost sight of the music...

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

I've compared the MDR1 with the Momentums side by side. My preference was definitely for the momentums as they had just as much detail but were much more musical and engaging. The MDR1 gave me all the detail but it just didn't pull me into the music.

Yes, I agree and was quite surprised it happened. It also meant that I had to wait a few weeks to listen to my new IEMs again : (   On another note, and I hope this is not a damper too much, but the plug that Dita use really is nothing special. My new plug sounds the same (AFAICT) and costs...

Maybe I just got a dud. Overheating? I'd say no to that. I learned to solder properly when I was about 8 and have since gone on to mod many things like cd player op-amp boards and rebuild loudspeaker cross overs, etc, etc. It just got stuck inside the 3.5-6.3mm adaptor and when it finally...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Just finished modding my Dita Answers with a new plug. I use an Apple iPhone 5 and have wrapped it in a Cleave Crystal bumper. The trouble with the bumper is that it is very deep around the headphone socket and the Dita plug simply wouldn't fit. I had to use a short cable adaptor but I wasn't...

Well, my re plug mini project has stalled. (To recap, I'm fitting a slimline plug to my Answers so I can keep my Cleave iphone bumper) My brand new Furutech plug decided to fully disintegrate. Not too happy as it cost me AU$50 and because I sourced it from Japan, will be a hassle to send...

    High-end dynamic driver IEMs

Hi. I've read good things about JVC's 850 woody. From what I've seen, it may fit your budget. I own some Dita Answers myself - www.ditaaudio.com. They're a little costlier at about $650US. They're a very balanced phone, very musical, revealing and transparent. Bass is deep and dynamic...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Getting the fit right on the Answers might take a bit of patience. I've found that once they're in your ears, if they are not feeling or sealing right, 'dialing them in' can help. If you twist them while they're in your ear like they're the volume control of your amp, it alters the angle of...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

I've had my Answers since last Friday. I listened to them briefly before running them in with pink noise over the weekend. Initial impressions are very good indeed.   The first thing that struck me was their resolving power and transparency. Every little nuance comes through no matter where...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

When bumper-fi meets head-fi, there can be no winner. So the answer is No (basically). I've been using Cleaves for 3 years now. I have a pretty good feeling that the Furutech plug is better than or at least as good as Dita's. This way, everyone's a winner. And I am a dab hand at...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

I'm about to do some surgery on my new Answers.    I have a Cleave Crystal bumper on my iPhone 5 which is more form over function but I love it so it stays. This has a 7mm x 3mm recess for the headphone socket. This means I cannot plug my Ditas into my phone unless I use a short extension...

Help - headphone socket adaptor needed

Problem solved.   1 x Furutech mini plug with 3.5mm stand off is on the way. I'll cut the nice Dita carbon barelled plug off my new $650 IEMs and solder the Furutech on (done it before when modding my cd player so shouldn't be an issue). This way I also keep quality up through not having to...

Help - headphone socket adaptor needed

Hi everyone. I have a predicament that I'm hoping the experts here could help me with.   I have an iPhone5 with a Cleave bumper on it. The bumper around the headphone socket looks like this;     I also have a set of Dita The Answer headphones with a plug the same as this;     As...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Yes. Less 'hash' and a quieter/darker background. I never really noticed with my Pistons and Vsonics but the Dita's resolving power is a power of 10 better and easily shows this up.

I spent a little time listening to my new Answers last night from iphone 5 and was impressed for sure. What helps is putting the phone into flight mode. Quite an audible difference.
