I see, that makes a lot of sense. I wasn't aware it did support 192k till I read about it a few pages ago. Thanks.- Twangsta

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
I just tested 192k over optical. Worked fine, correct rate color, sounded great. I too though there was a 96k limit, but 192k works in the surface.- Twangsta

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
It's like having two great flavours, a lot of electrical noise is certainly eliminated via optical, there may be some circuitry that Rob Watts has included in the USB paths to eliminate noise and other things that account for the different tonality, though these differences are minimal. The...- Twangsta

I was going to add another para and I hit the cancel button instead, I had track refs etc, bummer. Wanted to say, the differences are minute and very mix dependent. There some sub bass extension, some peaks were smoother. Both input sound just killer, I don't want to discourage anybody, I love...- Twangsta

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
I think I had it wrong, I thought one or the other was limited and didn't try beyond 96k, reading your comment I checked the rme manual, it does support upto 194k. 1 x TOSLINK Standard: 8 channels 24 bit, up to 48 kHz Double Speed (S/MUX): 4 channels 24 bit 96 kHz Quad Speed (S/MUX4) : 2...- Twangsta

I'm giving it a other go. I have a question about sampling rates. Iirc the optical in on the mojo 2 is limited to 96k, in just trying to understand if there is a conversion before the optical out and than another one at the mojo2. I have an optical out on my rme babyface pro that I use. Can you...- Twangsta

Chord Mojo 2 EQ settings
Has anybody tried to salvage an hd800 original with the mojo2 eq, I've tried but its not really balanced, also I found the BCL is a better amp for it, the mojo2 as DAC and eq helps a ton but it's not even close to my MMK2. I think I should sell it.- Twangsta

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
Depends on the music and the level I'm listening at. I first adjust the 125 band to taste and then adjust the other three to find a balance.125 is mid bass, bass drum and other bass instruments. Another approach could be starting to cut at 3k and adjust the rest for balance from there.- Twangsta

I'm not a parent but I have nieces and nephews, I think they are all too mollycoddled these days, but It's probably not my place to speak. A hard life makes for good character building, my life was a lot more brutal growing up, military school from an early age, basically thrown to the wolves...- Twangsta

I agree, I think I'm good for a long time, mojo2 + mmk2 would be hard to beat without a substantial outlay. I really don't need headphones. I literally broke my ears in with the mmk2, the left one was a very tight, bruised my inner ear lobe, but I know it would heal, heal it did. And it was...- Twangsta

I think I'm going to get a poly next. I'll try running of the SD card and see how that works out. It would have the same advantage, except I control it from my phone etc unplugged, and I think it can acces my nas, have to read up more.- Twangsta

ThieAudio Monarch MKII Experience
This is very interesting, I didn't know we had such a category of device available! It's like an un-opinionated transport player. I just plugged in the optical out of my RME Babyface Pro, I'm not sure how this exactly works, would this essentially make my computer a transport with that audio...- Twangsta

Got a mojo 2 a few days ago, it's been brilliant with Rokit5 studio monitors, monarch mk2 and my ancient HD800. Just of the heck of it I let the eq loose on the HD800, 125 up almost all the way, a notch or two on 3k, they've never sounded better, fun even. They are officially out of storage! I...- Twangsta

Help with Monarch MKII - DAC/Amp or DAP
Mostly electric, strats and teles. My main guitar is a malmsteen signature strat. I have a fancy custom Lentz I had made to order, its a double cutaway les paul type in HH. I play through a plexi and 4x12. The plexi is an RR100 made by Rockit Retro. Great amp for any kind of money. I just had a...- Twangsta

Help with Monarch MKII - DAC/Amp or DAP
Yes, I see a poly in my future, next month, want to space it out as well, roof repairs and what not, I hear good things since they've updated the poly's app/firmware. I remember watching the Rob Watts talk about the poly a year or so ago, he had some technical reasons about the single ended...- Twangsta

Help with Monarch MKII - DAC/Amp or DAP
Thank you, I have no words for how good they are! After reading your comment I got myself a pair of Etymotic - ER2XR, I wanted a change from the old T4. I think you're right, MMK2 is too good to take that sort of chance. Yes, after looking at all the options, they were all a compromise in one...- Twangsta
