If you're still a fan of the ie8 sound, then go for the direct upgrade, the ie80. It's basically the ie8 with less boom when the dial is turned up, and ever so slightly more extended treble. 

It's a problem that's common to most daps, methinks due to a lack of shielding. My old dx50 and dx90 had a similar issue, albeit static as opposed to outright turning off.

Mentioned this problem in the main plenue d thread, and it's worth repeating here, my plenue seems to be affected by the emi from my phone (iPhone 6), where if I hold both items in my hand, passing the iPhone over causes the plenue to display a battery low warning and shut off.

Has anyone else had this issue with the plenue where holding it near a phone causes it to spontaneously turn off? Mine seems to be doing that whenever I hold them in the same hand.

But is it possible to somehow code the plenue d to accept micro USB out? Something like a rockbox but limited to the USB i guess... One can dream.

Ahh. Is that then cowon telling us to buy their more premium products? Seems counterintuitive to me, shouldn't their top tier players be less reliant on external amplification/dac, as opposed to their $200 mid-fi offering...

Does anyone know if it would be possible for cowon to eventually develop a line out,be it via the micro USB or the 3.5? The mojo can't work with the plenue, and I can't help but think that it would benefit more if I didn't have to double amp my alo rx.

I owned the 3g back when I was still using my dx50, and recently messed around with a friend's 5tx(?). The core sound is still very much...arrow-like, warm and not the most detailed, but the added feature of treble boost and bass boost have a cleaner effect to them imo, the stage 2 switch on the...

Pretty sure you're supposed to format the player itself, not the SD card. Might be worth a try though, and try playing the files on another system to make sure that the files aren't corrupted or something. Worst case scenario try reinstalling the firmware altogether and start from scratch.

The loose connections were an issue specific to the um3x, Google it up. And I'm pretty sure you'll find that most people here would much rather prefer the old 2-pin style termination over the mmcx one, short of one with a locking mechanism like the jha angie etc. There's a reason why westone...

I personally don't trust mmcx connectors in general, and any I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a 2nd hand um3x for cheap in your local marketplace so I would go with that if I were you. 

I think someone on this thread emailed a westone rep before and they confirmed that all pre-existing models had just gotten a aesthetic refresh and no internal changes.

I would say go in small increments if you want to adjust your sound sig, but keep in mind an eq like that of the dx50 will only contribute to at most 15-20% of the sound. Personally I bump the lower frequencies up with my arrow and um3x.

Imo they sound like a refined tf10, with less harsh treble.

Yes it does. I'm using one myself with way too many flac files. In my experience with large microsd cards regardless of use though, I recommend copying files from your pc independently of the dx50. Using an adaptor tends to be faster and a fair bit more stable imho.

Don't have the exact phones you do, but the high gain setting is probably enough. Ymmv though, there might be something to be said for sq improvements with an amp in the mix.

Pure sound, Someone recommended it to me a fair few pages back. It's on the front page under updates as well if I'm not mistaken. Opens up the soundstage slightly for me, makes everything sound more natural. 

You could try the pure sound software that's floating around this thread, and meddle with the eq on the dx50, I find that it works pretty well as far as software eq goes. 

The nozzle on these is longer than that of the westone 3, right? Had some insertion issues with the latter and pretty nuch couldn't get the full range as is the case with the 3s.
