If the biocellulose in question is actually bacterial* cellulose, than quite a bit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacterial_cellulose * I guess "bacterial" is not something your marketing department would want to use :)- WilcoRoger

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
The A55 has digital out from the WM port (works also with @MrWalkman firmware), the A35 has analog out from the WM port. There are (were?) e.g. Fiio cables with respective WM-USB micro and WM-3,5mm terminations. I really don't remember anymore, if the A35 had WM-USB mini capability with the...- WilcoRoger

Does that actually switch off the DAC/AMP of the headphone, or are you just getting extra AD->DA conversions and double amping?- WilcoRoger

I'd keep the custom fw for the extra functionalities it brings to the A50 even if you only use it on BT- WilcoRoger

Read speed is what matters in 99% of the cases - e.g when the player re-creates the database. During playback, it hardly matters. Write speed is important only when you actually put music on the card. Don't connect the player directly, use a card reader instead, you'll get an order of magnitude...- WilcoRoger

I bought from these guys, very reasonable prices. I went with the original Sennheiser cable re-terminated with 2,5mm balanced, but they have a zillion versions/option https://oidiosound.co.uk/headphone-cables/sennheiser/hd650- WilcoRoger

Why would you call it the "poor cousin" ?? There is a dangerous epidemics around these forums, it's called "upgraditis" - most of us catch it, some will become immune, others continue to suffer ;) Currently the 58X is $149 and the 6xx is $199 on drop.com - IMO this sets the ceiling for this...- WilcoRoger

A seminal record. I still have the LP, this was the record that introduced me (opened my eyes/ears) to all 3 of the maestros - it lead me to discover RTF, Mahavishnu, Shakti (not to mention the movies of Carlos Saura featuring Paco) in my teen years and enjoying their music ever since (guess...- WilcoRoger

I hear you! Now I'll have to compare the DSD to the 96/24 version :D Did you know that the second night of that concert is also out - "Saturday Night in San Francisco". It seems that Al had the tapes, he (??) remastered it and now it's been on the market for a while. The best thing is that...- WilcoRoger

I haven't managed to work out this whole senseme thing - what is it/ does it do exactly? (I know, noobie question) I also mainly gave up on dsd - I cannot hear any difference even compared to flac 16/44 so it's just a waste of storage space for me. Just checked Billy Cobham's Spectrum (highly...- WilcoRoger

I agree with the "less processing" part, even if decoding flac is very easy on system resources. As for "hearing the difference" - right, difference between bit-identical data. :)- WilcoRoger

Using a card-reader to transfer files is MUCH faster than putting the card in the player and transfer thus. AFAIK on the players you get only USB2 speeds and the readers are USB3 or faster.- WilcoRoger
