I'm actually interested in getting the m8 for my dt770 80 ohm... how did they sound coming from the m8? These will be the hardest to drive headphones that I use on the go so if the 1.2 volts from the m8 can get the dt770 to loud levels... I'm golden.

I have to warn you, if you look at the particular HM5 pads that I got, the back side of the pads that secure onto the driver is black, not dark red. When ordering the white pads, the pack part of the pads are white... so it might look out of place.

how do these pads differ from m50x pads? and are the only replacements for the brown ones from here and here?

that's exactly correct. the hd598CS cable will go into a m50x like it belongs! Apparently the 598cs port is deeper than the 598se or 598 and those redditors were claiming it worked based on the openback versions. 

people on reddit are telling me that the m50x coiled cable will also double for the 598cs. Im sitting here like a moron trying to get this in and the fat part of the plug wont let me extend deeper into the hole. despite all this, I still couldn't give LG the benefit of the doubt because the track record of them failing to make good on the fatal bootloading flaw made my purchasing decision very tough. 

  this is why I'm looking at the two former kings, the m8 and v10... and it seems like the m8 is still the clear winner with the bootloading issues plaguing a decent number of these lg phones.

does the v20 suffer from the same bootloading issue the v10 has? I'm not sure if I want to buy into LG if this issue continues.

To what extent is this interference. I feel like this amp/dac might not be worth it if i'm looking for a sandwich solution for phone/amp combo. Is this isolated to just the e18 or is there a suitable alternative?

wait hold on... the interference issue was only when the two modules were back to back AND the e18 was plugged into USB power?
