Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

It should be interesting, but I was honestly a bit disappointed that this is not the Nexus-based prototype that @Jason Stoddard mentioned in the Skoll chapter. Thought Jason was the in the SS camp of phono preamp instead of tube (limited rolling options, etc, iterated multiple times in the...

    Schiit Midgard - Impressions Thread

This is indeed causing some confusions, especially to those old-schoolers believing in through-hole component: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/meet-the-new-schiit-kara-preamp.1182073/ Maybe it’s worthwhile to call this out on the product FAQ page.

Nervosa / upgratitis time…how much goosebumps / WOW can we expect coming from Freya S to Kara? Assuming AC turns up a click to compensate the extra heat dissipation, of course….

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Such a beautiful sight- like a cigar box. Schiit can just offer a few choices of such plugs of the most popular values. I am not aware of capacitance loading done this way though. @Jason Stoddard Is there any technical impediment?

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

1- single input 2- super complex : more on that below 3- discrete vs opamp: don’t care as long as high headroom and ear-pleasing harmonic distortion pattern can be achieved 4- balanced: why not since you have Nexus? Also good for long cable run for some room setup requirement 5- both since...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Work from home seems to have further strain my eyesights as daily routine of looking into the distance (e.g. driving) had been greatly deprived. Have been using some sort of tweezer from my wife's makeup box for the DIP:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Nevertheless, really looking forward to this...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Just thought of this post (now more than half year ago) as I am just fiddling with DIP switches on this 20+ yo phono preamp with fat fingers and reading glasses(!). @Jason Stoddard can you please put in bigger DIP switches (better, rotary dials) for loading if this cost-no-object Schiit phono...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Currently running my 87db-ish speakers with 76lbs, 30 watt amp from Pass. Medium sized listening room, listening to a lot of orchestral works or operas, don’t really feel the need for more watts. Have been keeping an eye on FW products, but this hypothetical Continuity amp would be very, very...

    NAD HP50 repair / convert

Hello, I am trying to repair / savage a pair of NAD HP50 by converting it to balanced, ideally without soldering iron. Factory NAD HP50 is single-ended, with 3.5mm TRRS female jacks on both earpieces, but the cable can go to either piece while maintaining polarity. Internally, the left can...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Coax input for MB card + 1. That way I can use Eitr with it. Not sure if there’s any space left on the card for Coax + USB? If not then coax only card should fit, but that’s one more product and Jason doesn’t seem to like it...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Thanks for the notes. Really appreciate you guys' candor and stratforward style of communication. Another Eitr question - why does it still need powered USB hub with iOS* even though it's a 0ma device? Could it be a software issue since my first one didn't even work at all in iOS (and "may...

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion

That's my experience as well. However, my replaced Eitr still requires powered USB hub to work correctly with iPad/CCK- they now states this under Eitr FAQ, but I don't see that last week when it first came out. I am using a very old iPad with 30-pin version CCK though.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Au Have been comparing laptop->USB->EITR->coax->yaggy versus streamer->AES->yaggy over the weekend. The source is Tidal HiFi. The first instant I switched from AES to EITR, to my shock / disbelief, EITR seemed to be noticeably inferior. Then I quickly realized it's just EITR has slightly lower...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yes I got that, but perhaps I should rephrase the question: with Gen 5 / Eitr now available, is AES still the preferred input for yaggy? I got the AES/EBU streamer in the first place because of this; but if Gen 5 offers better or similar performance, I might consider to swap it out with Mac mini...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

A related question - how does Eiter / gen 5 compared to AES input on Yaggy? I am already using an AES capable steamer to drive my Yaggy. Would sending it back for gen 5 upgrade a side move?

Bifrost multibit + Magni uber : does it make sense?

I find the build quality quite good; no squeaks or breaks except some electrical noise when the cable inserted to the cup is deliberately turned during listening; but it's not a problem in normal use. The clamping force is a little bit too much at first, but after a couple of days it's quite...

Bifrost multibit + Magni uber : does it make sense?

Received the HP50 over the weekend and just listened to them a couple of hours now with iPhone since this morning. I have slightly larger head and wear glasses; the first hour or two I don't feel any comfort issues, but now I just experienced slight headache; not sure if it's due to headband...

Bifrost multibit + Magni uber : does it make sense?

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum but had been reading it anonymously for a while. I am coming from 2-channel setting at home and just starting to get into headphones to be used at work. After having a Yaggy in my 2-channel setup, I am currently only looking at Schiit products for my new...
