What Makes "Great Detail" in TOTL Headphones?

What about drivers cones modal frequency response? We always consider the driver cone movement taking for granted the cone behaves like a perfectly rigid body. But what if at a certain (high) frequency the cone cannot be considered anymore as a perfectly rigid body? What is is starts deforming...

A message to invite you to request the new IE80s tested at https://www.rtings.com/ Attention to select the new IE80s and the old IE80 If we pile up votes maybe we will see it move up in the rankings of the preferred gear to be tested

100% agree. BTW I already moved a step up to 400 eur entry levels hifi speakers+amp, but rarely listen to them as they do not fit in my pocket! ;-)

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

Well, I've owned IE80 and IE80s for many years, and owned and listened many other IEMs. The only weak points of the IE80s for me are fit, noise isolation and flexibility. If your fit is good the sound for me is unrivaled: bass detail, attack speed and subtleties of the mids are top notch and...

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

N3ap are excellent all rounders, the bass department is well extended, with subbass emphasis. Bass definition while being good is not the best. Sennheiser ie80s or earsonics es3 are more performant in this regard.

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

Agree . But the path to audiophile wisdom passes through many 30$ iems for too many of us. I agree the demo unit may sound dark, I had this same impression. But once I started using it the overall signature moved towards the balanced side of things, with elevated sub bass, and the mildly...

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

And probably it is. But for those who can only afford 300 $ I would still recommend the sonys n3ap For those with only 30 $, I still find cheap Sonys very musical, only if inaccurate on the extremes of the spectrum. Also I find the improvement from 30 to 300 $ gear like a + 70%, whereas...

Seems like you are really happy with it. 10 hours battery life is a huge performance, compared to what's actually on the market.

Sony N3ap. If you like wired they are ready out of the box. Otherwise just switch to a wireless cable. I would recommend a bluetooth 5 cable for best quality. They can be found as low as 200 eur.

    crinacle's IEM Ranking List

I actually tried the MH755, and owned for some time the MH1C, and I can say: - both have a very fun easy going signature, which can work with any type of music, as long as you don't expect too much detail pulled from the sound - The MH1C had elevated basses, with sub-bass boost and recessed high...

    crinacle's IEM Ranking List

I've had the sony N3 for quite a few month, and I find them the best in the sub $300 range: - confortable - good noise insulation - replaceable cable - very good sound - more expensive gear will just carry like 3% more detail across the range, but the overall SQ is largely enough to allow a good...

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution

Lately I made Sony N3AP my choice for metal, hard rock, and all other genres btw. They have fast detailed and forward bass, quick and controlled mids, detailed and non aggressive trebles. For this reasons they sound good with all metal varieties, and all other music genres. They are also...
