THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

So excited about this thread! Thanks so much for starting it @goldwerger as I too have my feet planted in the headphone and IEM world. The sense of community and joy in sharing our love for the hobby and music we love is inspiring. Here’s a couple of photos highlighting the gear which elicits...

Mojo 2. Class leading sound in its price range, versatility is its differentiator. Can power IEMs and most full size headphones. Portable yet suitable as a desktop DAC.

I second Spartacus as a recommendation. It’s got addicting PRAT and definitely a fun set.

The addition of Spartacus and Trifecta in the past few months has me as content as I’ve ever been in this hobby. Throughout my journey, I’ve imagined how IEM’s should sound to me and those two amazingly meet that threshold in their unique way. I do admit this sense of contentment is a strange...

Cross-posting my reply as well. :) I agree with you wholeheartedly. There’s a consistency in the overall impressions of this IEM that speaks to how well it’s engineered and tuned. Listened to Ariana Grande’s Sweetener recently and Spartacus blew me away with its staging, speed, vocals...

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There’s a consistency in the overall impressions of this IEM that speaks to how well it’s engineered and tuned. Listened to Ariana Grande’s Sweetener recently and Spartacus blew me away with its staging, speed, vocals, coherency and slam.

I too was download only up until the last year or so. It’s expanded my new music palette considerably. Listened to Brittney Spencer last night which I never would have without streaming. Country is not my favorite genre, yet I really enjoyed her new record. She’s immensely talented. Streaming...

Agreed! Javelin has received the most play time of all my music in the past few months.

Actually shot this photo last week but listened Springsteen’s Western Stars again last night/early this morning with Mojo 2 and Trifecta. A wonderfully synergistic pairing. Everything about Trifecta has exceeded my expectations to this point. It’s redefined the concept of “getting lost in the...

Campfire Chat - Official Campfire Audio 2024 Thread!

My fav 3 1. Trifecta, the IEM that’s enchanted me like no other by daring to be unique from anything else I’ve heard 2. Solaris SE, holographic sound stage, balanced yet engaging signature, aesthetics 3. Atlas, first foray into bass head dynamic driver coherency and energy

You’ve captured the essence of Trifecta beautifully in your review. Floating in a sphere of sound is exactly how I would describe it.

Seeing the magnificent posts and beautiful photos reminds me of the thousands of hours I’ve spent with Campfire IEMs listening to music that has touched my soul and enriched my life so immensely.

Sultan was on my shortlist based on your and @Sajid Amit impressions but I came upon a used Trifecta at a good price. Also thought Trifecta would be a more significant departure from Spartacus.

Agreed, that’s how I heard it even in show conditions and why I purchased AO.

I only heard AC for a brief time in the ZMF room at last year‘s CanJam NYC through the Cayin HA-3A (don’t recall the DAC). AC has more sub bass rumble for sure as many reviewers have noted though AO can slam as well. I’m sure there’s some folks on this thread who own AC and AO and can provide a...

Yes, Atriums must sound great from Homage! They‘re fairly amenable to most pairings. And now that I’ve heard Trifecta, I must say that @HiFiHawaii808 was spot on with his sentiment that it comes closest to the romanticized sound signature of a headphone with a tube amp. One of the primary...

Since there’s a plethora of reviews/impressions regarding Trifecta, I’ll share what I would call my observations or revelations as I get to know them over time. Since @Rockwell75 shared the profound statement regarding Slash being a supremely emotive guitar virtuoso, one thing that then came to...

Based on the flurry of posts stressing the importance of music library in providing perspective on how well an IEM may or may not work for you, I’ve updated my profile to include that info. Also added my age (yes I’m freakin 60, been a loooooong time in this hobby) as that may be helpful. Most...

The importance of libraries has come up often lately. Glad you mentioned that. Mine mainly comprises of singer/songwriter, some jazz and of course Springsteen. Listening to Darkness on the Edge of Town now which can be classified as vintage. :) The drums and Bruce’s vocals are rendered in a way...

Like you, I’ve only had limited time with Trifecta. It is so different than any other IEM I’ve heard. Its vast soundstage envelops your entire head in a vivid and highly textured soundscape which was a bit disorienting for me at first. Perhaps that’s where you‘re sensing a feeling of weirdness...

Completely concur with your assessment. EDIT: I’ve had Spartacus for a few months and it still impresses me. Hoping your experience is the same. :)
