DENAFRIPS 'ARES' R2R discrete ladder DAC - close up view

Yes, this is with the new firmware. Also, i got paranoid that maybe something in my other equipment could have flipped the phase, but I tested another dac which can invert phase and got the same results. So original graph stands.

DENAFRIPS 'ARES' R2R discrete ladder DAC - close up view

I keep hearing light on = positive phase on this thread. Where is this coming from? In the Ares manual is reads:

DENAFRIPS 'ARES' R2R discrete ladder DAC - close up view

question for the thread. So we know this update shortened the delay on the DAC but does anyone know if this update also changed the behavior where the amount of delay would change arbitrarily? Love this DAC, but my biggest issue is that the delay changes if you power it down and back up, so...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Tough to search this question but does the magnius convert a single ended input to a true balanced output? Actually looking specifically at the preamp outputs on the back. Thanks.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

So I've heard the original Saga had a capacitor in the output stage which made it not optimal when using a low impedance amplifier, such that the output impedance would vary with frequency and could get quite high. Does the Saga+ and Saga S have the same output stage?

    Schiit's Saga Preamp Impressions

I’ve tried the setup with a pair of ls50’s, which are by no means efficient speakers for such low power amps. I did notice a lack of low end compared to more powerful amps, which I was assuming was because of the low power output of the aca’s. But now I’m wondering if this is more because of an...

    Schiit's Saga Preamp Impressions

Thanks for the reply. I thought the whole point of the tube buffer was to make it more compatible with various amps. What do we gain from the tube buffer then? I’m going to be using the saga with a pair of pass amp camp amps, source in Modi Multibit. The amps have an input impedance of about...

    Schiit's Saga Preamp Impressions

Can you explain why this is, how this works? I recently compared the Saga (both with tube active and not active) against an older NAD pre-amp I have, and I have to say I was enjoying the NAD pre-amp more and I don't know why... but it did sound fuller and I'm wondering if it's because some of...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I don't believe that is the case. I previously emailed Schiit asking if they did add gain and they replied no... "LISST tubes will not add gain to the output, it only converts the Saga from a tube amp to a solid-state amp." Which is what lead me here to see what the difference is. Thanks.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I'm also thinking of picking up a Lisst tube for my Saga before they are gone... but to be honest, I don't understand what it's going to do different from running in Passive mode??? What's the deal?

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Hi all, I have a Saga and was looking at the Lisst "tube" option. I don't quite understand what that will do/change about the Saga. Thanks

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Thanks for the reply. Is it truly a "pass through" since it's technically amplifying the signal (as opposed to Saga that only attenuating if you are using passive mode)? But, still, it seems like if you just turn Magni up, it's just like any power amp with no volume control.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

First post for me... I’ve searched these forums and found questions regarding this but no answer. For a Saga to Magni 3 setup, can I turn the Magni all the way up and use the Saga for remote controlled volume? Does the Magni 3 basically become a headphone power amp? Does this affect sq by...
