@FiiO can probably get you one. They did for me. The ifi switching power supply or the Fiio PL50 linear power supply, if size isn't an issue, may be better sounding options though.

Actually... I would have came to the opposite conclusion based on my preferences. HA-3A for rock and HA-2A for electronic based (edm, techno ect.) music. My guess though is if someone generally prefers the sound of one amp that won't vary too much based on the type of music.

Personally I like the funny face aesthetics - adds significantly more personality than the standard utilitarian German faceplate. 😏

Had heard can use the C9 without batteries inside plugged into an outlet. Is this not correct and it does require batteries to operate?

I have both of these amps too and enjoy them immensely. Can't recommend either of them enough. Also a very versatile combo - one or both will drive most anything very well from IEMs to Tungstens.

Just double checked the details - Skedra (Viking Weaves Cables) ran the EML Mesh on his Cayin HA-300 MKII without any issues.

I know two people who were using the EML Mesh 300b in their Cayins without any difficulty but that doesn't mean of course they didn't get lucky. @Andykong Is there any reason we shouldn't use this tube in the Cayin HA300 MKII?

Very interested in comparisons between these two products especially as the 23RM appears to be one of the few that drive Tungstens very well.

For me it was 15 months post-purchase when my Elrog's died a premature death. In hindsight, I wished I more fully appreciated companies like EML and WE that truly stand behind their products with five year warranties. Oh well, live and learn... :sweat:

I don't really understand the science behind it either but from googling around that does seem to be the consensus opinion. @GoldenSound Does this sound correct - The frequency response of planar headphones is generally not affected by the different impedance settings on an amplifier?

In theory... recall that since Calderas are planars and not dynamic drivers its frequency response shouldn't change on the different impedance settings on the amp and therefore some will use the highest, most powerful setting available unless there's a noise floor issue.

I'm using a 5x20mm T1AL250V 1A, which I think was recommended by FiiO in an earlier post. Hopefully this one will have a long life. If not then I'll look into using one with a slightly higher current.

I'm using the PL50 with the FiiO M17. I have been generally first turning on the PL50 before the M17. The first replacement fuse came with the PL50 and this second one is a slow blow fuse so hopefully it will last longer this time. 🙏

Agree 100%. Plus, voltage tends to be about twice Ryan's 20 Vrms guideline with more power available at the higher impedance settings.

And... it blew again. So just put in one of those fuses from Amazon and its back to working again. So this makes two blown fuses in three month. Are others having similar issues periodically blowing out their fuses?

Alternatively, get one of Cayin's OTC headphone tube amplifiers with more power available at higher impedances.

My Cayin HA-300 MK2 has a similar output profile with significantly higher wattage at the higher impedance settings. Appears to be pretty common for many OTC tube amps making them good candidates to pair with Tungstens.
