For sale Sonore Ultrarendu HW version 1.3. This is a full featured module (not Roon-only). There is no power supply that comes with this unit. I used it with Farad Super 3 which is as expensive as the unit itself but well worth it.- chelseafc

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Since I sold my MS/DAVE combo about 6 weeks ago, I have not been missing it a bit. My current setup: PGGB on NAS -> Optical Ethernet Switch -> EtherREGEN -> Sonore Ultrarendu -> SRC-DX -> OPTO-DX -> M2 (DBNC input). M2 is powered by a supercap power supply (internal battery disconnected). No...- chelseafc

Fair enough, lets end it there. It was silly for me to opine on whether modded DAVE is a good investment or not (who cares!). As you said, we are all different, but share passion for musical enjoyment. Cheers- chelseafc

First off, I used "crazy" referring to passionate enthusiasts in the most positive way, Secondly, you just proved my point. You bought a used DAVE and implemented the mods on your own. Why buy a DAVE modified by someone else?- chelseafc

I am waiting for a final piece of my new setup - a supercapacitor PS for Mojo2, but even on its battery it beats DAVE/MS combo decisively, in my opinion. I ditched the MS in favor of PGGB playback, no looking back since. @Triode User - how is your much anticipated comparison going?- chelseafc

The only folks crazy enough to buy a modded DAVE with voided warranty are the same folks who can do the mods themselves. It will be a hard sell, in my opinion, unless you give away the mods or get very little back.- chelseafc

These are precisely the reasons I sold DAVE/MS combo, the product was a game changer in its prime, but it is time to move on. I still enjoy following discussions on this forum as I learn a whole lot.- chelseafc

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
I believe it maybe too late to get into modded DAVE game. If you are prepared to spend thousands on the mods, I have to assume that money is not an issue. Why not wait for the Choral DAVE then? I had to drop the price on my DAVE a couple of times to sell it, even though it was under warranty. It...- chelseafc

PGGB Offline Remastering
Are the PGGB benefits with May as profound as with Mojo 2? Are you using USB to feed the data into May? One of many reasons I chose to move away from DAVE is its sensitivity to noise (from the mains or other sources). Is May similar in that regard?- chelseafc

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Just to make sure we are on the same page, I will repeat my disclaimer - I am not comparing solo M2 to solo DAVE. For me the leaner side of DAVE was significantly diminished by the M Scaler or PGGB. The MS/M2 combo is still leaner by comparison, but transparency fans might find it appealing.- chelseafc

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
BTW, I still stand by my assertion, but can add few more details. Mojo2 seems to be sensitive to the noise from its output. I discovered it by playing with AC filtering on the integrated amp. With DAVE, my amp was plugged into the wall, and it did not matter whether I filter the AC or not...- chelseafc

I find it annoying that PGGB won’t do FLACs unless sample rate is less or equal to 8FS It seems that Audiowise’s PGGB-IT does not have that limitation- chelseafc

I have not tried the HQPlayer, but the MS and PGGB playback sounded the same to me (I failed the blind test miserably). Someone told me that MS degrades the PGGB playback sound, even in the bypass mode, I am waiting for SRC-DX to arrive to prove or disprove it.- chelseafc

I believe there is some magic happens in M2 when its internal upsampling bypassed and it is isolated from noise by optical. I ran MS/TT2 against MS/DAVE and TT2 lasted only a couple of tracks before complete and unconditional surrender. With M2, however, it is a much closer fight, in my opinion...- chelseafc

You missed the key part. Mojo2 has to be paired with the MS to bypass its internal upsampling. And the only way to connect them optically that I am aware of is to use OPTO-DX from Audiowise.- chelseafc

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Money was no object for me and I chose to sell DAVE. In addition to SQ, convenience and simplicity were the factors. There are just too many things to make DAVE happy - optical isolation at the input, power conditioner (with two large AC cables), or external LPSs with more cables. With Mojo2 it...- chelseafc
