Comment by 'ColSaulTigh' on listing 'Eksonic Aeras Electrostatic Headphone Amplifier - One of the best at any price!'
It's a fairly tuneable amp - with the tubes pictured, it's fairly neutral. The RCAs that come with it add warmth. Some of that is going to come from your earstats as well - x9000 are somewhat cold (with some bass reach but not as warm as say the 007's). ShangJr's are pretty neutral with a...- ColSaulTigh

For your consideration is a rarely seen Aeras electrostatic amp. This is the "little" brother to the Kerry built T2 in a much more compact single chassis design with four 6S4A tubes. This amp Is simply unbelievable for the size and price besting anything I have tried except Kerry's T2. I have...- ColSaulTigh

Denafrips 'Pontus' R2R ladder DAC - close up view
I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but I'll throw my $.02 worth into the mix - change the firmware. Each version of the Pontus II firmware seems to bring different characteristics. Some are more bass-heavy and not as crisp, others are very cutting and airy, lacking some warmth. a 5-minute...- ColSaulTigh

Feliks Audio ENVY
IMO the standard KR 300B-HP is a bit anemic and lacks any soul, BUT the KR-300B Riccardo Kron Anniversary Edition, on the other hand, is a great value (if you can find any). Those were my go-to tubes before the Elrogs arrived. I put those above the WE, Tak, and the EML's. Of course, this is...- ColSaulTigh

Very sorry to hear. Always sucks when you have to put a pet to sleep, but it's better than letting them suffer. Wishing you the best.- ColSaulTigh

Going all the way back to 1981 for this one. Thank you to the late Ken Kobold for saving this history and these performances for us to remember so many years later that would have otherwise been lost forever.- ColSaulTigh

Headphone Tube Amps - The hunt for all 300B TUBE AMPS
IMO, the Tak 300B are lightweight and thin. Very airy, and a bit anemic compared to either the WE or the Elrog (I have the Mo's, I imagine the same holds true with the ER's). They are detailed though, so if classical, vocals, or maybe airy jazz is your thing, they're nice. But if you want...- ColSaulTigh

It's upgrade time! I got a Rega Planar 10 so the Planar 6 has to go to make room. My upgraditis is your gain! For anyone looking to get into vinyl, or if you're looking to upgrade your rig, this is the deal to beat. My like-new Rega Planar 6 has about 200 hours max on it. It's in immaculate...- ColSaulTigh

Musician Audio Pegasus R2R DAC
I used to leave my Pegasuses (Pegasii?) on 24/7. The only time there were in "standby" mode was if we had a power outage. My Denafrips Venus has been on 24/7 since I got it more than a year ago. Internal components, especially the clock "ovens" like constant power to maintain precise timing...- ColSaulTigh

Focal Clear headphones
Having both a Clear MG and an OG Utopia, I can say, whole-heartedly, IMO, any stock Focal cable is garbage and should be used as a method of testing if a headphone works, and that's it. I think they are physically unwieldy and uncomfortable, and sonically inferior to literally anything else...- ColSaulTigh

...and this is why I wait. I'm lucky enough to count one of Dr. Gilmore's creations among my own (built by @soren_brix ), and have no intention of parting with it. I will, however, sell one (or both, most likely) of my kidneys for the Good Doctor's latest creation!- ColSaulTigh

The Woos are made from Delrin, not ceramic. You can always ask @WooAudio if they'll make some for you - seems like a logical request. @Deyan makes some pretty stuff, but his are either plastic or ceramic (I think). He does do brushed housings though.- ColSaulTigh
