Bluesound Node - New 2021 model!!

I got one of these and my intention is to use the USB out to feed a MAC in which I would be handling bass management and room correction. The 2 stereo channels would be copied to 4/6 channels with the extra channels powering subs either dual or quad subs. I hope this will work.

    Airpods pro

I’ve been an “audiophile” for a long time now. I used to be a “purist”. In time I realized that nothing improves actual S/N ratio or dynamic range better than ANC. You can chase ideal conditions and turn off your A/C, your fridge and sit there with open back headphones trying to obsessively...

    Smyth Research Realiser A16

Sorry I meant either 10 or 12 bit per channel. At least 10 is needed for true HDR. So the compromise is 8 and the HDR is messed up or set it to 4:2:2 and the PC text is bad.

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I had no idea. What is the use case for airplay 5.1? Are there audio receivers that accept 5.1 from an Apple TV? Anyway yes I suppose you can airplay the whole signal to a receiver app on a Mac and then tap the USB output. I always thought an Apple TV received Airplay. I had no idea it could...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Really? I had no idea. Airplay or airplay 2? But still if you get the stream to a receiver you still need it in USB form to work with the Möbius right? My understanding is that once video audio are separated in HDMI the audio/video sync is lost.

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Yes I must admit. I bet you can get it to work. But I suspect you’ll suffer from latency. The one thing about keeping everything within HDMI is that HDMI keeps video and audio in sync. I suspect an hdmi capture card could output and keep everything in sync. I was hoping this would be...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Ah I see so the head tracker is wired. It’s all adding up for me now. Yeah you could get a really long thin 2.5mm cable and just not worry about it. Maybe keep a couple around in case you break one.

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

The Möbius does not upmix at all. It simply applies HRTF from Waves NX. What that means is that simply tries to take the soundstage out from inside your head and tries to put it in front of you. If you apply it on a two channel signal it will try to make it sound like you have two speakers in...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I suspect that overall it will about 3 years for it all to settle down. This is great product for right now. But ultimately the ideal would be a system supporting hdmi 2.1 with head tracking, variable refresh rate and 3rd Ambisonics. I just come and check about once every 6 months to see what...

    Smyth Research Realiser A16

For me the problem is 4:4:4 32 bit HDR. That won’t come until hdmi 2.1. I think all this new tech needs about 3 years to settle down.

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I agree. They are learning and this is much improved product than ones that came before. If I held a grudge I wouldn’t even consider it. As for private equity that’s a whole other discussion about how those run. Sadly it’s an inevitability. Most businesses if not all are built to be acquired by...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

There is no head tracking without HRTF processing. If you use Atmos then surround is handled by Atmos and you need Dolby headphone. But PS4 doesn’t do Dolby headphone. And there is no multichannel support for consoles. That is what I came here to find out. Xbox does handle Dolby Atmos for...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Look at the specs. https://www.audeze.com/products/mobius-series/mobius-headphone Trust me I looked around before coming here. Balanced 1w per channel. Planar magnetic is generally power hungry. Audeze is generally less so due to the light weight of the diaphragms and high magnetic flux. But...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

On the first point you win. On the second nothing says multi channel requires USB. One guy says that multichannel does NOT get pushed out by media devices. The other guy thought exactly what I thought. That this product was meant to consume multichannel audio from consoles. It wasn’t until I...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Great chart. But do I get there from the Indiegogo page: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/mobius-immersive-cinematic-3d-audio-headphone-headphones I just see “read the story” which leads to straight ad copy. Meanwhile I went to the Smyth Realizer Kickstarter page and I have no need to visit...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Au contraire. The product description didn’t really go into detail how exactly it works. My frustration was related to how little space was used to describe what it actually does and how most of it was devoted to typical audiophile marketing. It took this many posts to finally figure out what...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Ok I get it now. I used to be that guy with Windows home server and Windows Media Center. Still debating getting the Pioneer UHD BD drive and Powerdvd 17 ultra. Also going to check the Smyth realizer. As I understand it now. The key feature is latency free head tracking. That and the fact...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Ok that is great. So basically as long you have a USB connection you can watch movies in their surround formats. I suppose it comes back to the problem that you need a full on PC Blu Ray setup. Which I guess means getting a 4K blu ray drive and Power DVD (anyone who’s done this before might have...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Yes you are right. Head tracking is built into steam VR as is HRTF. As for the Möbius I’d have to test head tracking to see how that works. All current two channel and multi channel systems that are not Ambisonics based are predicated on the user sitting still with ideally positioned speakers...

    Audeze SINE Series

I understand there is a Cipher V2 cable for iSine. Is there one for the Sine or EL-8? I haven’t been able to find it in a search.

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

With an established firm like Audeze doing crowd funding there is almost zero risk of not getting product in the end. There is a reputation to maintain. However in this case all the other aspects of crowd funding apply. The huge one is that like all other crowd funded projects you are best to...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

It seems like the head tracking aspect benefits from onboard processing due to latency issues with Bluetooth. So you’d give the head tracking aspect. However I see that aspect as mostly useful for VR. Where VR is concerned light weight, small size and comfort are critical. As a Vive user I can...

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Thank you for the pointer. I will check it out. One thing I would pay extra for is a audiologist appointment to professionally measure my ears to get a convolution file to use with the Creative product or any other product that is designed to perform HRTF. Another way they could do it is by...
