Listened a few hours today to the HE1000 stealth and I have to say there is an improvement in SQ vs my 12AU7 Raytheon, but not a step change as I've experienced with with ZMF AO. I have to say, that I find the HE1000 Stealth is such a great HP, they are really versatile and easy to find...

but power (assuming you are speaking about dB/volume) is not something to worry about with HA-3A, never used volume knob above 50%, normally 25% is loud enough... and I'm using RCAs, if you use XLR interlinks to XLR output (there are 3 gain modes), probably there is no headphones that can't be...

I was about to sell it before starting tube rolling…I found the stock tubes to be a bit harsh, now I got a much more warm, clear and resolving, nowadays sound quality has a massive jump. I never tried the envy, can’t help you on that!

Yes, a few head-fiers are using it with great results and I believe that Cayin also confirmed the possibility of using in the HA-3A.

actually, as I have to wait till the end of May, I started thinking if the Spring 3 would be a better choice... but the price is 2X higher! So...decided to work out my patience... and meanwhile just bought some Mazda's 6V6G + Philips' E80CC, this should make my waiting for the cyan2 much more...

I had the DMP-A6 Master Edtion, which is a great device as a streamer, the screen is great and all the functions spot on, but the DAC with the HA-3A sounded too "Digital", a bit harsh, after 1 month, I stopped looking to VU meters, spectrum analyser... and sold it! I've bought a Chord Qutest...

With slightly more than 2K you can get a Cayin HA-3A + a nice R2R DAC (cyan 2, Gustard R26 or Denafrips Ares II 12th). If you go Aune S17pro, then 2K will be enough for everything, in classifieds you can find both DACs and Amps at good prices many still under warranty.

I’m also using Cayin HA-3A which sounds great, also use Aune S17 Pro and demoed Vio V222 all deliver amazing synergy, tough my preference goes to the Cayin (probably due to personal preference for tubes). But the other question is what DAC would you add to the system?
