I get the consensus is to get the 32 plus, but that doesn't tell me about the differences. Someone on reddit /headphones reviewed the non plus and the plus and he likes the non plus better. Plus just has better bass but mids and highs are worse. So that seems to me the plus is for bass heads...

Regarding the RY4S I see a 32ohm and a 300ohm version and a 32ohm plus version. What are the differences?

I don't know so much about head amps than I know about DACs. The Heretic is very well reviewed so I guess you can't go wrong there. The only thing about it that is missing is balanced inputs and outputs. Just RCA and 6.5mm Single ended.

Maybe SMSL M300SE. Or for better sound the SMSL D6s DAC with a head amp of choice.

I am using my S17 as a pre-amp. So if I would go to the +1000 category I would just look for a Dedicated pre amp solution and keep the S17 as a head amp as soon as my neighbours start to complain about nightly spl's.

Using the Aune X8 magic DAC XVIIIth with Sparkos opamp. You can switch op-amps to tune response and it has balanced outputs. Also using the Aune linear PS with it, which was a further improvement. A different power cable made a difference too for both x8 and x17

Because you already have a dongle that won't work properly with your phone. You need a hack.

iBasso has a y-connector called CB19 for power problems. It connects a powerbank to the Dongle while receiving Data from your smartphone.

If he thinks it has grainy treble he probably did not let it burn in properly and/or was listening with the wrong type op headphones. I refuse to watch reviews by this guy, period because his tone makes my skin crawl. There is something intensely fake about him and I just cannot stand it.

I think it is a power delivery related issue. The DC04pro is more power hungry than the Elite. Power management probably gets in the way.
