iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

I got the firmware to test my problem with DSD. It is exactly what it is beta firmware for test purposes, so not for general use, including the risks associated. The official release is the one for general use. Donald

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

In the past I had difficulties with updating to the newer firmware on the NS, but this time it worked in one go!

No. I am sorry, I don’t use Tidal. I know many wait for that update. Hopefully that is included as well. Donald

    The headphones not touching ears

In the old days I lived small and could not have decent loudspeakers in my room, so I sat for hours with Jecklin ear speakers on my head without having these problems you describe. They spread their weight over your head, so you feel them less than when you have smallish head bands. But ymmv of...

    The headphones not touching ears

I have the Jecklin Float since its inception. I had the opportunity to try many types of headphones but always came back to the Jecklin due to its open, not touching the ears construction, combined with fine electrostatics.

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

I am currently on a beta version of the Neo stream firmware (plus higher version of the Linux kernel) which enables streaming from my Mac mini i7 via upnp to the Neo stream and then direct out to my Dac200. Maximum resolution now is DSD512. Works like a charm: no hiccups whatsoever...

New up-frequency player software HI-Player, better sound quality, smaller size, lower power consumption

No, it doesn’t. The funny thing is that with Audirvāna it never reacts…

New up-frequency player software HI-Player, better sound quality, smaller size, lower power consumption

I installed hiplayer trial on my Mac mini i7, but it crashed immediately. It also interfered with my virus scanner.

What is the headphone that you will keep forever and never sell?

My (electrostatic) Jecklin Floats: my first really good headphones I bought when still going to university in the seventies. Still one of the best headphones I know. See my avatar.

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Thanks for your answer. I have experience with a linear power supply to my old Zodiac dac, which improved the quality quite a lot. Maybe I can have it adjusted for the Neo Stream. Also within the Elite there are even 4 choices from 5V/5A to 24V/2,5A. Is there an optimum say 12V/4A for the Neo...

if you want to upgrade the power supply, which one should you choose (there are 4 versions on the Ifi site)? Is there any difference sound wise between them? thanks!

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Apart from a firmware which will install without problem, I also hope for a firmware upgrade to Linux 5.x, which will give me a digital out to my T+A Dac200 of dsd512. Fingers crossed

    T+A HiFi - DAC 200 - Official Discussion Thread

It took two weeks before my dac200 was up to snuff in DSD. So certainly with DSD it takes some time also. I agree with others in this thread that the dac200 sounds very natural without any digital artefacts (DSD or PCM). Very close to my (much) costlier LP rig (turntable, arm, mc cartridge and...

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

when I switch to dsddirect in the Ifi app, the app changes it immediately to dop. See attachment. All settings on the mini and Audirvana are the same as when I used the Neo Stream as a dac. The Neo Stream is accepting the dsd stream I can see in the Ifi app, but the stream is not exported...

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Hi, thanks! I'll check if the Mac not 'automatically' changes to Dac200, the moment the Dac starts from wake-up, although Audirvana shows upnp in its settings. Currently I use usb with the Intona box in between my Mac and Dac (dsd256 over Dop). I will report back. Cheers!

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Yes I know. The app constantly decides to go back to software🥹, but to no avail. I you chose dac200, you cannot choose dsddirect, because it thinks the dac20p only supports dop…

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Thanks for answering, I did also try this. You are able to choose Dac200, but then the Neo app says the Dac only supports dop…, this is probably because the Mac only supports dop dsd256 max. I can do that direct off course without using the Neo. The Dac supports up to dsd1024. I hoped to...

iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

Can somebody explain how the digital out is supposed to work? My intended use: upsampling to dsd512 with audirvana, send it to the Neo Stream with upnp and then with dsd direct send it via digital out to my T+A dac200 with usb. USB is the only hi-res input on the dac200. I tried it out, but the...

An Audiophile's Dilemma: Do you prefer Tube Amps or Solid-State?

There you have a valid point. Tubes are certainly not environmentally friendly. 2 otl’s and (pre-)preamplifier use about 400-500W/h…

An Audiophile's Dilemma: Do you prefer Tube Amps or Solid-State?

This supposedly glow and warmth of tubes is not what I am hearing with my otl”s and preamp. I wouldn’t want it. The difference with solid state in my set up is the effortless and expansive sound (width, heights, breadth), speed and no glare whatsoever, which I find mostly missing in solid state...

An Audiophile's Dilemma: Do you prefer Tube Amps or Solid-State?

I have been intensively using (Dutch) Aitos tube amplifiers since the 1980’s. Since then I only replaced 1 pl519 power tube on my 90 watts OTL power amp and 2 or three tubes in the prepre and pre amplifier. So as far as reliability is concerned for tubes: not bad. Aitos amplifiers are hard to...
