Yes Tidal Connect on Neo doesn’t support 24 bit Flac, Max always switches to High when it isn’t an MQA file. Tidal have updated Connect to support 24bit Flac and this has been released on other streamers. So just waiting for the update, can’t be far off?

I’m currently using the Tidal connect, the issue is 24 bit Flac isn’t supported in connect and never has been with iFi, although often the 24bit is available in uPnP. MQA works great though. I like using the connect so hoping for an update mainly because it doesn’t zap the phone battery.

Apart from the pricing plan, what else did Tidal change on the 10th?

I found Tidal kept switching from Max to High on connection, although the MQA still worked at Max. Anyhoo Qobuz works alright in Mconnect apart from killing my battery. Love an update that fixed GTO because that is the sweet spot with my system. I guess we could be looking at July like the last one.

No worries you provide a useful service on this site and It’s been a useful find. Personally I’m not a fan of the ESS sabre dac and the market seems to be saturated with this option, so I think Ifi can offer something better and different.

I am the guy who sent his machine back when requested and appreciate the investigation. I did think it unlikely that this was hardware, but nobody else reported it and therefore assumed I must have a fault specific to me and there is a finite warranty period. I think Ifi must appreciate they...

Ifi Audio asked me to send the unit in to check the issue out. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I suppose the question is, what are we doing different to everyone else? I use Wi-Fi with mconnect to play Qobuz songs from an iPhone XR.

Wow I am not alone. You describe the fault perfectly. Sadly updating the firmware will not fix it as I did that and no change. I did observe that this happens with uPnP and mconnect and Tidal connect but NOT Airplay with Qobuz. Might be worth opening a ticket so they know I’m not the only one.

Well it’s not that it doesn’t hold , just that there is no sound. Yeah hopefully they will address.

Sadly this did not work. Ifi support are talking about returning the unit which seems a bit drastic. I find it strange that this could be a hardware fault. The new firmware was 2.15.17 seems to work OK apart from the same issue with GTO.

I managed to convince my work PC to run the exe after some messing with the antivirus. Mac would need an emulator which I don’t have. As before I set the filter to GTO, it played fine, switched it off and back on and although still set to GTO there is no sound at all until moved to another...

Anyway managed to get the computer to accept it but unfortunately the new firmware install made no difference. Not sure how my hardware is different from anybody else’s, if not firmware then what?

The problem is they want me to reset using the windows exes provided, but the one app won’t get past my work pc defences. I don’t own a Win PC only an old Mac plus iOS devices.

Anyone come across a strange bug with the GTO filter. If I set this it works fine, however if I turn the Neo off and then back on and start the music using uPnP and mconnect, the track starts but there is no sound until you select the filter on the Neo and move to the next one. I have submitted...

The confusing thing for me is that the Neo reports PCM 44khz on the newly released FLAC files, the connect software switches from Max to high when connection to the Neo is achieved. So it must be playing FLAC just not at the Max bit rate. When playing MQA it displays MQA on the Neo not PCM.

Well the Neo says PCM and MQA when it is. A bit of a mine field this. The Neo is the best sounding streamer I have heard, I am quite forgiving of its problems, but I think we are now a bit overdue an update.
