The thing that always stuck with me about the originals was the lack of low end thump. I enjoyed the time I had with the open version because of that. These have a nice little bump to the low end. I find it much more enjoyable and it never intrudes on the mids which is fantastic. Will be a personal taste on the sound signatures for both the OG and this version. I believe Dan mentioned these RT were driver matched with the new internal dampening done. I have no channel imbalance with these so that might be something to think about.vs an older used model. Though idk that the old ones didn't get the same treatment.
Thanks for your review! These sound like they might be up my alley. I know we shared similar views on the Campfire IO, and now I'm going off the deep end.
I'm planning on buying a Bifrost 2 and Magnius amp to get the balanced output. I like bass, but I hear a lot of people rave about open back headphones. Should I go seeking out open-back if my main musical interests are artists such as Florence and the Machine, Slipknot, EDM, folk and alternative? Leakage is not an issue. I also like acoustic string instruments integrated with any of these genres.
Can you compare the soundstage with that of the IO? Would these be a logical next step moving to over the ear headphones while still being able to enjoy the differences that the IO has? Based on your cable input, I'd most likely buy a balanced XLR from Hart Audio. Also planning on switching to the Apple ecosystem here soon.
