Lol, the K7XX of planars? Sounds like you're aiming to get me to upgrade! I will say that $300 (USD) is a "right price" for a midrange headphone – pretty much the top-of-the-budget for someone wanting a really good headphone but can't justify sinking money into headphones over other things.

I personally prefer a balanced sonic presentation over highlighting certain frequencies, but a "fun" phone still has it's specialized place. Do you think the original HE-400 was the last high quality "bass cannon?"

It swems so. I certainly have not heard the original but by reports it was phenomenal. No other HFM had that basa since.
