I bought 2 just in case one breaks!!!

I was hoping that  there would be some comparisons to more expensive IEMs to show how it matches up against them.

@nScott89 - congrats!

@seanwee - you are darned if you do, and darned if you don't.  Not a knock against you, but if I post comparisons to expensive in-ear(s), I get complainers/whiners.  If I stay with comparing with only IEMs in the price point/bracket I get complainers/whiners.  I was actually going to compare the RE00 to my Shure SE846 (~$1,000) and connected items such as the SCS and Silver Litz (around $400 for both), but came to the conclusion that the sound difference is not even close in every regard - coherency, punch, liquidity, overall resolution and other factors - it's really not a fair comparison.  For the price, the RE00 is a nice sounding IEM.  Comparatively to a lot of high-dollar IEMs, it's not really very comparable, in my opinion.

@Ashwin HL - Not cool to ask a question like you are screaming and writing it like you are demanding.  Please calm down, especially if and when you post again.   Do you own the RE-400?

Ah okay.  I just saw the way the specific post was written and the "??!!" sounded like screaming to me.  But it's all good - thanks for the compliments...I understand now.  Since you own the RE-400 and I haven't heard it in a long time and don't feel comfortable giving you (and the world) a detailed comparison just based off of a product I heard over a year ago, you can send me yours, and I would be more than happy to add it to the review.  I'll reply to your PM, and we will see if it can happen.  If so, I'll appreciate the proactive effort, if not, no worries. :)

Nice review.

Apart from the sound comparison with the RE-400 (which I love) I would also want a size comparison. A photograph with both iems would help to determine the size and form factor of the RE-00 compared to those of RE-400. The RE-400 are tiny.

@G_T_J - Thanks.  Compare online images of the RE-400 and the RE00, especially with in-ear pictures of both.  Based on what I've seen (not going by only memory), the RE00 is pretty small, but doesn't have the slight bulge of the RE-400.  Since I see that you own a RE-400 and want a picture as soon as possible of the RE00 and RE-400, you can PM me and send me yours.  I would be more than happy to add it to the review.  If so, great, I would appreciate the proactive effort; if not, no worries. :)

Is this really not as sharp as re-0? i can't stand the peaky and sibiliance of that iem.

@lesp4ul - I wouldn't know because I have not listened to the RE-0, as mentioned in the review.

at that price point i see the Puro IEM100  to be the direct competitor, which one do you think is better for complex music with multiple instruments?

also..great review :)

@Blazer39 - Thanks, appreciate the comment. :)  As for which would be better for complex music with multiple instruments, I would say both are adequate in their own right, but as for the individual listener to choose the "better" IEM, I would say it depends on your preference.  If you want a more laid-back approach with less perceived treble presence compared to the IEM100, then the RE00 would be the choice.  If you want a more treble-focused IEM that is slightly more forward in overall sound (as clarity and resolution between the two is like splitting hairs in my opinion), then the IEM100 would be the choice.

Hi Moe! I bought the Dunu TItan 1es some months back. I contributed a small review of them on the Dunu Titan 1/3/5 thread. They cost £35 in the UK, not sure of their USA price? But seems they'd be suitable for comparison. I found them (the 1es) to often have flashes of surprising detail, introducing me to sounds (or even instruments!) in familiar songs that I had previously been unaware of. My previous IEM's were the approx £140 Audeo Phonaks, and although the 1es can't match their excellent (if bass-light) sound signature, they were able to provide at least a vaguely comparable level of detail. I didn't notice any specific comments in your review about levels of detail (although I'm also quite badly sleep-deprived right now, so that could just be me!). Any thoughts on this?

@Layman1 - The DUNU Titan 1es is going for several more dollars on eBay over here than the £35, so that's about $22 more for the 1es compared to the RE00, for reference purposes.  I'm not sure exactly what you mean that I didn't talk about levels of detail.  Not sure if you are talking about just the levels of detail about the RE00 or compared to the 1es.  To answer as best as I can, assuming you meant levels of detail of the RE00, it has adequate levels of detail (for the price), but presented in a laid-back, not-in-your-face type of manner.  I reckon the specific source utilized will play an important role (with or without EQ) to help tweak the sound as best as possible to your ears.  Hope this helps.

Great review! How well do they handle sub-bass frequencies? Their lows is the only thing that I'm worried about and how they would handle stuff like neurofunk drum&bass which sounds best with flat sounding speakers/headphones but ones that are still very capable in the lows when needed. Thanks in advance for your answer

@krsk77 - Thanks!  I feel that the subbass frequencies are not very apparent.  If you listen to it on its own it has a nice quality bass to it but not a lot of quantity. Once you compare with other brands, the bass isn't as voluptuous, full or deliberate than other IEMs. For reference, the UERR (custom 3 driver) has to my ears a more to a lot more bass than the RE00. I adore bass (listen to the Alpine Type X if you can) and would not want to steer anyone to purchase the RE00 based on its emittance of subbass. That's where you have a lot of other choices as even the UERR comparatively emits more volumes of all levels of bass to my ears). I would say the RE00 is great as a balanced sound, and probably more of an overall reference/somewhat above neutral sound once you listen to some IEMs that have bass to their sound signature. Hope this helps.

@moedawg140 thank you,good to hear your opinion helps out a lot. I think I'll pass on these. Luckily there's a shop nearby that specifies in headphones, will have to go and visit it to test a few sets out. I'm mainly a user of regular speakers/monitors or over-ear headphones, with close to no experience with IEMs its hard to buy anything without actually hearing them, my search goes on. Thanks again
