Ha! Congratulations! The Fan really is an even, correct and an entertainingly complete sound. Probably my favorite aspect is the bass transients, but I'm sure others would find something else (more) exciting about it. Yes, soundstage, the soundstage is the unexpected gift too! Cheers!
The Vortex is more energetic and shows a drift more towards neutrality. Actually not a drift it is more neutral, with faster response times, and less baggage down below, causing it to be more nimble. The Vortex was slightly unpredictable upon meeting, where the Fan seemingly fell into use. Meaning the Vortex took slightly more effort 1) placement 2) tips 3) DAP personality to reach total success as it’s showing its ability to be more transparent. Cable rolls were more drastic maybe with the Vortex, not a good or bad thing, but it’s more easily swayed to something, where the Fan has a firm grip on what it is.
I'm thinking of getting a good solid single DD (I'm pretty much set for BA) and the impressions I've read so far make it seem like the Vortex might be more inline with my tastes, but I also haven't read any direct comparisons with the Fan either
Penon does have a good sale on the Fan right now tho…
@Redcarmoose that doesnt explain why he called them horrible in the comments of the review below yours by Cqtek. Genuinely curious if it was just burn in or he was basing his opinion off graphs?
