When I demoed the centauri at CanJam it felt like a warmer, planar version of the ZMF Atrium Open. A very spacious, rich, analogue sound that's smooth on top but dynamicly lively. Once you adjust to the tuning there's some real magic in this headphone.

I hard these in my system as my dealer brought them by with a bunch of other headphones from Spirit Torino.

IMHO- they were just terrible, but I respect that people have different tastes. Your positive review makes me wonder waht was going on with my ears the night I heard them...

@rsbrsvp I share your sentiment actually. The Centauri sounded so bad to me; I seriously thought it is a defective pair. That said, the Valkyria didn't impress me either. Different strokes for different folks I presume.

These along with the entire spirit torino lineup are some of the worst headphones I've ever heard

Is it better than Caldera?

@Jacobal I really do not like to leave negative comments, but honestly, I feel responsible to leave this warning here. Unfortunately to me the Centauri was one of the worst headphones I heard at any price range. I wouldn't take it even for free. Mentioning it in the same sentence as the Caldera feels like a crime to me. Sorry.

Andrea from Spirit told me that the current Centauris has been slightly adapted in terms of drivers and tuning.
I think that explains the confusion of the different sound impressions here.
